Michelle Yeoh, Henry Golding, Constance Wu and Ronny Chieng will reprise their roles in Crazy Rich Asians in a new adaptation of Kevin Kwan’s story

Uncork the Dom Pérignon—this is not a drill. The magnificently lavish world of Kevin Kwan’s Crazy Rich Asians, the subject of the 2018 movie of the same name, is returning to the screen in an upcoming HBO Original Series.

Some of the film’s stars, including Oscar winner Michelle Yeoh, Henry Golding, Constance Wu and Ronny Chieng are slated to reprise their roles, and its director, Jon M. Chu, and writer, Adele Lim, will also return. Filming of the series, which picks up where the film left off, is due to start in 2027.

Crazy Rich Asians, based on Kwan’s 2013 novel, marked a defining moment for Asian representation in global media. A sequel to Crazy Rich Asians was expected—and hoped for—but fell through after Lim left the project due to a dispute over pay disparity.
