A growing desire among health-conscious youth for meaningful social experiences is giving way to sober ‘coffee raves’ in ice cream parlours, cafes and museums across Asia
Is 4pm the new 4am? As a nod to the sober-curious movement, young people across Asia have discovered a refreshing alternative to traditional nightlife: coffee raves.
Powered by caffeine and good music, these alcohol-optional gatherings are redefining how we party. As traditional clubbing culture is losing its appeal, more people, particularly Gen Z and millennials, are seeking more intentional and wellness-focused ways to connect and unwind without sacrificing fun.
Also known as “cafe clubbing” or “soft clubbing”, these events aren’t strictly about coffee (though it’s usually up for grabs), but they almost always have an alcohol-optional approach.
Held in unexpected venues like ice cream parlours, coffee shops, shopping centres and even museums, these are the most exciting coffee raves happening across Asia, so you can go big or go home, all by 10pm.

Past events include a takeover of Peak Pizza and ice cream parlour Messina at the Peak Galleria, where guests danced to Afro-house and tech house beats.
The Social Club Series has three July events: a pool party on July 5, a coffee rave on July 26 and a golden hour rooftop function on July 27.
Morning Affair, Bangkok, Thailand
Say goodbye to the dreaded Sunday scaries and hello to Morning Affair—a caffeine-fuelled party series co-hosted by Bangkok coffee shop Rise Coffee and “dating bar” Tictactoe Bar, which encourages guests to mingle.
The parties, open to those aged 20 and above, combine groovy DJ sets with coffee creations such as es yen, a Thai-style iced espresso with condensed milk, or vodka-spiked coffees for those craving something stronger. And don’t worry about drinking on an empty stomach; the event offers baked goods like buttery croissants and savoury bites, such as wagyu pad kra pow stir-fry. With good music, good vibes and even better coffee, Morning Affair is gaining popularity with the young crowd in Bangkok. Tickets for the next event will be available starting on July 1.
Beans&Beats, Singapore
Founded in May 2024, Beans&Beats in Singapore is driven by the mission that underground music can be better enjoyed and appreciated in sober spaces. It has grown from an apartment gathering hosted by three friends into an events organiser that hosts regular events.
In an effort to create a fresh alternative to traditional night-time clubbing, coffee raves are hosted in unexpected spots that will always keep you on your toes—think vintage stores, rooftops, museums and coffee shops. Inside, you’ll find alternative music sets curated by local DJs, speciality coffee brewed with award-winning coffee beans and a friendly dose of authenticity.
Before Midnight, Bangkok, Thailand
Ever heard of a pet-friendly rave? Before Midnight, a Bangkok-based party collective is reimagining what daytime parties can look like. Launched in March, it throws themed raves that combine music, caffeine and creativity. From beachside cafes to a venue designed to look like an aeroplane, each event features local DJs and fun dress codes.
Its most recent event, the Pawffee Rave, invited guests to bring their furry friends to a pet-friendly cafe—complete with a bar, play area, garden, dog pool and zones for different animals.
Launched in 2025, Before Midnight is just getting started—and if a party with puppies and cats is the baseline, the pawsibilities are endless.
