Ladies, celebrate with your girlfriends and toast to everlasting friendships the day before Valentine’s Day
For the uninitiated, Galentine’s Day is a thing—and it falls on February 13. Yes, one day ahead of that other global occasion. This unofficial holiday which (coincidentally) takes place a day before Valentine’s Day celebrates platonic friendships between women. The term ‘Galentine’s’ first sieved its way into popular culture through the popular American television show Parks and Recreation, in which character Leslie Knope (Amy Poehler) happily comments that Galentine’s Day is about “ladies celebrating ladies”.
Galentine’s Day can sure be an alternative when you don’t have a significant other to shower with gifts or go for a nice dinner with. So round up your best gals this February to schedule a nice dinner, an exciting staycation, or even attend a baking class together.
