Ladies, celebrate with your girlfriends and toast to everlasting friendships the day before Valentine’s Day

For the uninitiated, Galentine’s Day is a thing—and it falls on February 13. Yes, one day ahead of that other global occasion. This unofficial holiday which (coincidentally) takes place a day before Valentine’s Day celebrates platonic friendships between women. The term ‘Galentine’s’ first sieved its way into popular culture through the popular American television show Parks and Recreation, in which character Leslie Knope (Amy Poehler) happily comments that Galentine’s Day is about “ladies celebrating ladies”.

Galentine’s Day can sure be an alternative when you don’t have a significant other to shower with gifts or go for a nice dinner with. So round up your best gals this February to schedule a nice dinner, an exciting staycation, or even attend a baking class together.

1. Channel your inner bakers at a baking class

Friends who bake together, stay together. Bread, cakes, donuts, or macarons, there is a baking class for whatever pastry you and your friends prefer. Huddle together at a professional baking class of your choice and upgrade your skills in whipping up delicious and aesthetic pastries.

2. Toast to your friendship at a cocktail masterclass

For friends who love to chat and unwind together over good alcoholic beverages, a cocktail masterclass might be what you are looking for. The secret to a great cocktail? There’s only one way to find out. Learn the tips and tricks of a good drink with professional cocktail makers. After, chat the evening away with your friends while sipping on your cocktail masterpiece.

3. Relax at a spa

Pamper yourself and your friends at a relaxing spa this Galentine’s Day. Look forward to massages, facials, saunas, and pools while you connect with your friends. Soothe your aching muscles and tired minds at one of the many luxurious spas Singapore has to offer. You will end up feeling rejuvenated and perhaps form a bond closer than before.

4. Go into zen mode at a yoga mindfulness class

A good way to unwind after a long week of work or school, treat yourselves to a mindfulness yoga class. Socialise with your friends as you contemplate your goals and inner thoughts while stretching out your body. A good way to become in tune with your mind and body, have a zen session of yoga with your friends this Galentine’s Day.

5. Appreciate music together at a Candlelight Concert

Candlelight concerts are popular among couples because of the romantically lit atmosphere of the concert halls. Friends, too, can enjoy the experience of sitting among candles whilst being serenaded by classical music. Not a fan of classical music? The Candlelight concert series in Singapore also puts up shows featuring music from Joe Hisaishi, Hans Zimmer, and even BTS.
