Kylie Wong and Daryl Ong celebrated their love across two continents with an intimate wedding at The Apurva Kempinski Bali and a spectacular 850-guest celebration at Mandarin Oriental Kuala Lumpur in 2025
When Kylie Wong first met Daryl Ong, she knew one thing immediately: “He was the loudest person in the room, in the best way.” Meanwhile, Neueplas director Ong was utterly captivated by “the sweet, soft-spoken girl” who somehow managed to stand out without trying.
It's the classic tale of opposites attracting, and what followed was a love story that would span continents, culminating in not one but two spectacular wedding celebrations.

Their romance truly blossomed during their first trip to Bali, where everything felt “so natural and familiar, like we’d been a team for a long time,” recalls Wong, who is a business development manager at Brother’s Group. The dreamy island would later become the romantic launchpad for their wedding journey.

But first came the proposal, a perfectly orchestrated moment in Florence during Ong’s sister's wedding.
Wong had no inkling of what was coming when Ong dropped to one knee amidst the sunset-soaked Tuscan rooftops, with loved ones and even enthusiastic bystanders erupting in applause. “It wasn't just the stunning setting, but the way it felt so personal and thoughtful,” she reflects.

Fast forward to 2025, and the couple embarked on their own dual-celebration extravaganza. First stop: The Apurva Kempinski Bali in June, where 120 of their nearest and dearest gathered for an intimate affair that paid homage to where their love story began.
Wong floated down the aisle in an Elie Saab off-shoulder lace gown from The Ivory Bridal, whilst Ong cut a dashing figure in a custom white Lord's suit, complete with their wedding date embroidered at the collar.
The evening's pièce de résistance? Their first dance.
“We were both super nervous since neither of us are dancers,” admits Wong. After weeks of living room practice sessions filled with laughter and stepped-on toes, their nerves melted away. “It was just the two of us, smiling and completely lost in the moment.” When friends and family rushed the floor afterwards, Wong’s happy tears began flowing.

Four months later, the festivities shifted to Mandarin Oriental Kuala Lumpur for a grander celebration with 850 guests.
Here, Wong channelled modern elegance in another Elie Saab creation from Gelly Wee, before switching to Zuhair Murad for her second entrance. The couple traded their romantic first dance for something altogether more spirited, inviting their bridal party for a group performance.
“What started as chaotic laughter and everyone trying to get their moves right quickly turned into pure fun,” laughs Wong.

Between the meaningful traditions—a ROM ceremony at Thean Hou Temple and an intimate Guo Da Li at Wong’s family home—and their shared passion for travel, good food, and belly laughs, Ong and Wong crafted celebrations that were unmistakably theirs.
“Even little things, like personalised touches for guests or specific colours and flowers that reminded us of meaningful places and memories, were all carefully considered.” Wong muses. “While many of these details might go unnoticed, they created a cohesive and heartfelt atmosphere that made the wedding truly feel like us.”
As they look towards marriage, they’re most excited about the everyday moments ahead. After all, as Ong puts it, she’s the one who “made every place feel like home.”
