Renowned private museum opens to the public with a collection of antiques and heirlooms

One of Hong Kong's premier destinations for antique aficionados, the private Liang Yi Museum, is finally set to open to the public this month. Longtime owner and collector Peter Fung selected a four-storey 1960s building on Hollywood Road to house the museum, which features one of the world's largest collections of antique Chinese furniture from the Ming and Qing dynasties. The exquisite pieces will be displayed in rotating exhibitions.
The museum also hosts the world's premier collection of bejewelled clutches, compacts and powder boxes, created from the 1880s to the 1960s by the finest European design houses.
"We would like to present the antiques in refreshing, interactive ways that will help maintain ongoing interest in the past, and keep them relevant to today's audiences," says Lynn Fung, the museum's managing director and the owner's daughter.
