1. Light to Night Festival 2020: Invisible Cities

When January 10 till 19

What Inspired by Italo Calvino's novel, Invisible Cities, the fourth edition of this festival of art, innovation and ideas returns to the Civic District with a line-up inspired by four commissioned sonnets by local writers, including Singaporean poet Marc Nair, on the precinct's history and stories.

2. IMPART Collectors' Show 2020: Material Agendas

When January 10 till 19 

What This collectors' show presented by Art Outreach Singapore offers a look at key works held in private collections. They highlight the audacious spirit of artists, including Kehinde Wiley, who are transforming materials into bold forms.

3. Twenty Twenty

When January 10 till 28

What The Singapore Arts Club will stage its biggest pop-up art takeover at this former ship repairs workshop and warehouse at 2 Cavan Road. The first curated art experience, titled Strange Things, features artists from Singapore and around the world, including Dawn Ng, who will present Merry Go Round, a massive installation exploring the phenomenon of collapsing dimensions and the unravelling of time.

4. State of Motion 2020: Rushes of Time

When January 10 till February 2  

What Revisit Singapore's cinematic history and explore film as a document of time through this multidisciplinary exhibition organised by the Asian Film Archive, which includes site-specific installations and live performance.

6. Emerging: Collecting Singapore Contemporary – Selections from the DUO Collection

When January 11 till March 1

What Looking to add to your art collection but don’t know which Singapore contemporary artist to collect next? Get inspiration from this exhibition at The Private Museum, which features 20 selected works by 16 Singapore-based artists, including Jodi Tan, Luke Heng, Faris Nakamura and Kanchana Gupta, collected in the past five years by the DUO, private collectors who choose to remain anonymous.

What Artist-run institution Instinc brings together Singaporean and Japanese artists, including Urich Lau and Chihiro Kanata, for an immersive presentation of light, sound, performance, and technology, exploring themes such as devotion, intimacy, and togetherness.

8. S.E.A. Focus

When January 16 till 19

What With its eye on art by artists based in or from Southeast Asia, this boutique art fair returns to the Gillman Barracks for its sophomore edition with 20 participating galleries, featuring over 35 artists including Singapore's Yanyun Chen and Malaysia's Yee I-Lann.

9. Justice for All

When January 13 till 30

What British-Nigerian artist Yinka Shonibare offers a Singapore interpretation of British sculptor F W Pomeroy’s Lady Justice (1906) sculpture at The Arts House’s Chamber. Featuring his signature “African’ batik”, Shonibare’s monumental sculptural installation takes inspiration from the history and politics in relations to the building.

10. Art After Dark x Singapore Art Week 2020

What Gillman Barrack's flagship night-time event returns for its eighth edition, featuring electrifying live music and thought-provoking visual art installations in light of the Singapore Biennale as well as exhibitions by its resident galleries.
