How many iconic Hong Kong destinations can you spot from ‘The Season’, the thriller series released this month?
Hong Kong has plenty of great destinations beyond the Star Ferry or Victoria Harbour. If you are new to the city, Hulu and Viu’s latest thriller The Season, which was released last week, might be a good introduction to the breathtaking seas, stunning villas, and quaint islands that the place has to offer.
Shot mainly in the city, the series captures incredible corners of the region, from the rarely filmed Sha Tin Racecourse to local seafood restaurants on Lamma Island. Starring Shadow and Bone’s Jessie Mei Li, Karena Lam, Toby Stephens, and Crazy Rich Asians’ Chris Pang, The Season follows the story of Cola, a young woman whose father was falsely acquitted. She attempts to clear his name by getting close to—and ultimately bringing down—the most powerful family in town who caused his ruin.
The showrunner, Yalun Tu, explained to Tatler in a previous interview that the series’ title is inspired by how the summer season in Hong Kong, which is famous for its lavish junk parties, is when the rich and famous hang out and rub shoulders. Within this fictional narrative, Cola must find her own way into this exclusive circle.
Here are some of the filming locations we spotted where you can visit the real-world sets.

Opened in March 2023, this subterranean cocktail bar is located within Basehall, Jardine House’s upscale food court in Central. Inspired by the architecture of underground water cisterns, the bar features a unique geometric design unlike any other venue in the city. In the series, this is the exact watering hole frequented by high-society financier Carrie Shen and new-money icon Andrew Fung.
2. Sha Tin Racecourse

Opened in 1978, Sha Tin Racecourse is not only Hong Kong's main venue for daytime racing but also hosts numerous international events and major racing activities each year, making it one of the world’s top horse racing venues. Naturally, this serves as the perfect cinematic setting for the elite Hext family to showcase their prized new racehorse.
3. Rainbow Seafood Restaurant on Lamma Island

The long-standing, open-air seafood restaurant in Sok Kwu Wan on Lamma Island is celebrated for signature seafood dishes such as salt and pepper mantis prawns and fried chilli crab. While it normally functions as a fantastic place for a sumptuous lunch with friends or a relaxing date night, that is hardly the case in The Season. Instead, this is where the Hext matriarch, Fiona, hosts a tense lunch designed to thoroughly intimidate her guests.
4. Ocean Park

Hong Kong’s beloved marine life and animal theme park in Wong Chuk Hang and Nam Long Shan features an impressive restaurant tucked directly inside a giant aquarium. At this spectacular location, Neptune, Fiona hosts a stunning dinner party complete with a surprise event.

The Fullerton Ocean Park Hotel Hong Kong is an oceanfront luxury resort designed by the global architecture firm Aedas, with its sophisticated interiors crafted by the Singapore-based luxury hospitality firm Blink Design Group. Its grand, dramatic atmosphere made it a natural choice to portray the main entrance of the luxurious Hext family estate.
6. Peel Street – Yardley Brothers Craft Brewery

The series features a swift shot of the Yardley Brothers Craft Brewery taproom in Central. The award-winning local brewery originally started as a passionate pet project by brothers Luke and Duncan Yardley in a modest shack on Lamma Island, which later expanded into a large-scale commercial operation. The vibrant Central taproom sits on the very same street where Cola’s character apartment is located.
