Instagrammable digital installations, interactive art spaces and 360-degree films are just some of the experiences on offer at ‘Teleport’—the newest digital art space in Hong Kong
Immersive art experiences have been one of the biggest trends over the past few years, and there are no signs of slowing down. From the recently closed Digital Art Fair Asia to Japanese art collective teamLab’s spectacular installations that have been popping up around the world, there’s no doubt the art industry is undergoing a digital reckoning, with people continuously looking for innovative ways to experience art in the form of NFTs, digital projections, interactive installations and online auctions.
These days, more and more aspiring artists and young collectors in Hong Kong have also hopped on the bandwagon of digital art—and the latest example is Teleport—a new immersive exhibition which has just opened today (November 23) in Central to welcome visitors of all backgrounds for a multi-sensory journey into the artistic universe through a series of unique digital experiences curated based on lights, video and music.

Dubbed the world’s first “Experium”—a synthesis of experience and museum—Teleport is envisioned as “a parallel universe of mind-bending installations and tech-driven visual compositions”, with an aim to inspire people with concepts about the future of arts and entertainment. Once inside, visitors will be invited to choose an element: fire, earth air or water to represent their digital identity before exploring around within the augmented reality.
The new exhibition features 5,000 square feet of space and comprises seven themed zones. Each zone is inclusive of installations featuring state-of-the-art technology, world-class music and animation, giving visitors the opportunity to immerse themselves inside the works by leading digital artists. Highlights of the programme include the Particles and Hologram zones, where you can interact with the screens and animations; and the Dragon and Regenerative Aura zones which feature dazzling displays of light and colour for photography.
