After a successful show in November 2023, Teatrong Mulat ng Pilipinas presents its restaging of the beloved novel by Antoine de Saint-Exupéry
Everyone knows the tale of Antoine de Saint-Exupéry’s The Little Prince (Le Petit Prince), or at least the gist of it. It follows the story of a lonely narrator and a young traveller facing troubles. The traveller, a young prince, attempts to understand love in his adventure of the universe. This story is so well-known that any adaptation can be daunting, with expectations and pressure as possible hindrances to future production. But Mulat Theatre (Teatrong Mulat ng Pilipinas) has done it—and did so successfully.
Playwright Vladimeir Gonzales adapted it into a play titled Prinsepe Bahaghari, directed by Aina Ramolete. Premiering last November 2023 at Amelia Lapeña-Bonifacio Teatro Papet Museo, it received so much praise that it was deemed one of the “Best of Theatre in 2023” by a news institution.

In a statement, Gonzales says that the use of the Filipino language and stories in Prinsipe Bahaghari are “drawn from the experiences of our people to narrate the magic and challenges of growing up, of the many ways of taking care of this world, of faith in different forms of love within and beyond the reach of the physical senses.”
Witness the magic of art and puppetry this January at Power Mac Center Spotlight Blackbox Theater, Circuit Makati. Tickets are available at ticket2me.net/. For more information, visit Teatrong Mulat ng Pilipinas’ Facebook page.
