With Ooi being the former director of Art Basel Asia, Terase the former head of contemporary art at Sotheby’s Asia and Tandijono a renowned collector, the trio brings a wealth of arts experience to Hong Kong’s oldest arts centre
Hong Kong’s oldest art centre, Para Site, has named prominent figures in Hong Kong arts community, Adeline Ooi, Yuki Terase and Honus Tandijono, as its new board members.
Terase is a founding partner of Art Intelligence Global, an art advisory firm in New York and London, before which she was Sotheby’s Asia’s head of contemporary art. In this role, she oversaw record-breaking sales for Asian artists and set new benchmarks of sale of western artworks in Asia.
Meanwhile, art collector Tandijono, who’s known for his art patronage, began collecting with a focus on contemporary Chinese art, which quickly expanded into a global collection featuring interdisciplinary contemporary artists. Tandijono is a member of various cultural institutions including Asian Art Circle at Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum, he’s a founding benefactor of M+ museum, a member of M+ Council for New Art, and was previously an advisor to Para Site.

Ooi, the former director of Art Basel Asia, is an art curator and art advisor. She was a key figure in shaping Hong Kong’s cultural landscape during her tenure at Art Basel—she played a major role in helping the art fair to flourish and gain the kind of global impact it has today. On joining Para Site’s board in a new capacity, Ooi says, “I am deeply honoured to join Para Site, an organisation close to my heart. I look forward to ‘returning’ to my non-profit roots by working closely with Billy [Tang] and the PS team on pursuing new models to better serve and support artists and curators in the region.”
On the new appointments, Para Site’s executive director and curator Billy Tang says, “This marks an exciting new chapter for Para Site. Their [Ooi, Tandijono and Terase’s] collective experience in curation, collecting and building vital new infrastructure will bring a unique perspective to our board and help us to further our goal of supporting emerging artists and promoting contemporary art in the region.”

Ooi, Terase and Tandijono will join the existing board members such as Alan Lau, Mimi Chun, Sara Wong, Shane Akeroyd, Bonnie Chan, Dr Yeewan Koon, Alan Lo, Federico Tan and artist Samson Young, and begin their new roles in February 2024, working closely with Tang to guide the organisation in a new direction.
Para Site was founded in early 1996 as an artist-run space, and was Hong Kong’s first contemporary arts institution. The centre has grown with the city’s art scene, and become a bedrock in its cultural landscape. Currently, Para Site is exhibiting Offerings for Escalante, a show featuring the works of artist duo Enzo Camacho and Ami Lien. It’s also hosting local artist Chan Ting for a three-month residency in its 10th floor annexe space.
