Hong Kong will be home to Massimo De Carlo’s first Asia gallery from March 21, following the gallery’s retail stores in Milan in 1987 and London in 2009.
Located in the Pedder Building in Central, where it will be neighbouring other global galleries such as the likes of Gagosian, Lehmann Maupin and Hanart TZ, the Hong Kong gallery will celebrate its debut with an exhibition by Chinese painter Yan Pei-Ming.
As a patron of the Italian gallery, Pei-Ming has been collaborating with Massimo De Carlo since 1998, with his works showcased at both the Milan and London galleries. His solo exhibition in Hong Kong will see his new series of works entitled ‘It Takes a Lifetime to Become Young’, which is an ode to the history of painting.

Dedicated to create a dialogue between world-renowned artists, aspiring talents and classical art veterans from the 50s and the 60s, the gallery is also known for its active role in promoting artists that play an important role in the international artistic stage.
Remarkable exhibitions by represented artists over the years include shows by Yan Pei Ming, Liu Xiaodong, Rudolf Stingel, Nate Lowman as well as post-war Italian artists such as Lucio Fontana, Enrico Castellani and Piero Manzoni among others.
