Nymphs, blue donkeys, musicians and acrobats – the world renowned artist’s work is scheduled to show in Central later this month

Russian-born
and French-based, Marc Chagall was one of the most prolific and successful artists of the 20th century. His work spans nearly every artistic medium including paints, prints, stained glass, tapestries, illustrations, ceramics and even stage sets.

A new
exhibition at the Opera Gallery in Central, titled A
 Vision
in
 My
 Dream, will
 feature
the
artist’s
 most
prominent
work,
including
30
 original
 paintings
on
canvas
 and
 over
 40
limited

pieces. The show is being presented in cooperation with Le French May.

The exhibition comes nearly 20 years after the first major Chagall
exhibition
in 1994, hosted by the Hong
Kong
University
Museum
and
Arts
Gallery,

Chagall found his inspiration from reality, dreams and culture, but definitely concocted his own unconventional world. Sometimes so eccentric that even Picasso could not understand his mystical style, “I don’t know where he gets those images…he must have an angel sitting in his head,” the artist was said to have remarked.
