Hong Kong designer Kasing Lung, known for creating Labubu, has been appointed as the artistic director of next year’s ComplexCon Hong Kong.
Kasing Lung, the creator of Labubu and The Monsters universe, has been appointed artistic director of ComplexCon Hong Kong 2026. The convention, taking place on March 21 and 22, 2026 at AsiaWorld-Expo, marks the third edition of the event that brings together pop culture, fashion, music, art and food showcases.
Bonnie Chan Woo, chief executive officer and founder of ComplexCon Hong Kong, praised Lung’s work, describing it as “painted from emotion, memory and wonder” and said his creative world “speaks to a culture that has long embraced art and creativity.” Lung expressed his excitement about the role, saying he is “thrilled to share” that he will serve as the artistic director and cannot wait to unveil the experiences being prepared.

ComplexCon Hong Kong 2025 attracted more than 35,000 visitors and featured around 150 brands and creators, generating an estimated 87.5 million Hong Kong dollars in onsite business. The forthcoming edition aims to continue connecting local artistry with global influence under Lung’s direction.
Lung first collaborated with Hong Kong production house How2work in 2011, creating illustrated books and figurines. In 2019, he began working with China’s Pop Mart, leading to Labubu’s popularity as part of a blind box and plush doll series. Drawing from Nordic folklore and mythology, Lung has seen Labubu evolve from a secondary character into a worldwide phenomenon.
The lineup for ComplexCon Hong Kong 2026 has not yet been announced.
