Records are broken yet again at Salcedo Auctions' sale of Important Philippine Art on March 7.


HR Ocampo. Pagoda. 1967.

The National Artist H.R. Ocampo breaks the record for art auctions, with his 1967 oil on canvas work, "Pagoda," fetching 31 million pesos (36,208,000 pesos with the buyer's premium) at Salcedo Auctions' Important Philippine Art sale. Juan Luna's long lost "Aesop after Velazquez" sold for 17.5 million pesos, also at Salcedo Auctions, holding the record-high for 2014. This year, Luna's "A Farm House" from the 1890's sold for 4,672,000 pesos, which is double its published estimate.

Alfonso Ossorio. We Are Many. 1950.

The internationally acclaimed Alfonso Ossorio's work attained more than 11 million pesos as well with the 1950's magnum opus, "We Are Many." The piece is among the artist's "Victorias" series.
