As summer reaches its tail end, Hong Kong enters a breezy month of local celebrations, anchored by the Mid-Autumn Festival. This month’s agenda is filled with artistic contrasts: avant-garde sensory installations coincide with heritage retrospectives, while stadium-scale pop concerts share the spotlight with indie rock performances.
Artist and singer Janice Laujan transforms a Wong Chuk Hang gallery into an immersive, shoes-off sound experience, while the Hong Kong Design Institute (HKDI) honours the legacy of Canto-pop icon Leslie Cheung in a student-led exhibition encompassing rare photography and 3D holograms.
On stage, the spectrum is equally broad: C-pop phenomenon Silence Wang commands Kai Tak Stadium with a giant robotic production, L.A. alt-pop band LANY rings rafter-reaching anthems to AsiaWorld-Expo, and local trio Midnight Cowboy sets Cantonese poetry to live rock at Freespace.

Presented by the HKDI with free public entry, the Leslie · Grace at 70 Exhibition commemorates the 70th anniversary of the legendary superstar’s birth and pays tribute to the golden era of Hong Kong pop culture. Curated by over 400 HKDI students spanning multiple design disciplines, the showcase invites visitors to revisit the creative spirit and collective memory of the era through historical imagery and interactive installations.
Archival photography from local photographers Fanco Lai, Jonny Koo, Lewis Ho, Sam Wong and Seoul-based Hyung S. Kim will be on show—many of which for the first time. Attendees can also experience Cheung’s most memorable performances recreated through a 3D holographic mini stage and explore themed photo spots throughout the venue.

Following the success of a similar tribute in 2023, the Hong Kong Heritage Museum has expanded the showcase in celebration of the icon’s extraordinary achievements across music, film and the stage.
Guest-curated by Cheung’s close friends and industry veterans Florence Chan, William Chang and Wing Shya, the free-entry exhibition features an extensive collection of personal archives, including classic stage costumes, vintage vinyl records and major music awards. Other highlights include a meticulously recreated setting of his former residence, as well as multimedia installations and dedicated photo spots.

Commissioned by Serakai Studio and curated by Aaditya Sathish—curator of Art Central 2025—Memory & Punishment is an immersive sound installation and durational performance by Janice Laujan, artist and lead vocalist of post-punk band David Boring.
Designed to be a sensory garden with a plush, undulating purple floor, dimmed lighting and a soft haze, the shoes-off environment transforms visitors’ physical movements into an evolving acoustic landscape that explores grief, memory and shame.
Throughout its run, the exhibition features unrepeatable, hour-long sound interventions by local artists Kelvin T, Nerve, Gold Mountain and Karen Yu. Additionally, David Boring performs a live set on September 13.

Organised by Black Kite Brewery, Flockfest 2026 takes over PMQ atrium with over 50 craft beers on tap, including eight event-exclusive collaborations. The three-day free-entry festival brings together guest Japanese breweries West Coast Brewing, Far Yeast, Black Tide and DD4D alongside local favourites Yardley Brothers, Heroes Beer Co and Deadman Brewery.
A 15-act indie music roster features sets from Biascut, Reggie the Leaf and Black Lodge Cabaret, while food from Sonny’s Slice Shop and Chin Teng, alongside lifestyle pop-ups and workshops, completes the courtyard gathering.

Presented by the Tea House Rising Stars Troupe under the guidance of Cantonese opera master Law Ka-ying, the Tea House Theatre Experience offers a 90-minute introduction to traditional Chinese theatre. Recreating the intimate atmosphere of early 20th-century Hong Kong tea houses, the showcase features a changing repertoire of instrumental music, operatic songs and classic performance excerpts, including highlights from Time to go Home, The Butterfly Lovers and Red Pear Blossom.
Supported by WestK Performing Arts’ partner Rolex through its Perpetual Arts Initiative, the programme fosters emerging talent while preserving local intangible heritage. Audience members enjoy expert narration alongside complimentary traditional tea and dim sum throughout the showcase, with performances delivered in Cantonese accompanied by Chinese and English surtitles.

Following Charlie Zhou Shen, Wang becomes the second solo artist from mainland China to headline Kai Tak Stadium. The popular singer-songwriter’s three-night residency comprises an elaborate stage production: a nine-metre-tall, 10-ton robot, a sprawling 80-metre curved LED screen, and 72 lifting platforms.
Known for chart-topping hits like A Little Sweet and One Smile Turns the World Upside Down, as well as numerous television drama soundtracks, Wang will perform newly arranged versions alongside tracks from his latest release, Age of Romance, Act I.

As part of WestK’s boundary-pushing FreeWave music series, local indie trio Midnight Cowboy presents a live rendition of their debut album See You Down The Road. Formed in 2024 by Olivier Cong, Benson Koo and Travis Leung, the band sets the verse of Hong Kong poet Yam Gong to raw rock instrumentation and Cantonese spoken word.
The 95-minute performance channels Yam’s writing—by turns absurd, uneasy, and tender—under the guiding line, “We love one another in the midst of disaster”. Joining the trio are guest saxophonist Andrew Wong and vocalists Pata Chan, Stan, and Bunny, set against curated live video visuals.

Organised by the Leisure and Cultural Services Department, the fourth Asia+ Festival returns under the theme “Traditions Recast”, celebrating the cultural richness of Asia and the Belt and Road regions. The autumn season brings together artists from over 30 countries across nearly 100 music, dance and cross-disciplinary showcases.
The festival begins at the Hong Kong Cultural Centre on 23 September with TRI-ART! ON, a two-day concert produced by local composer Carl Wong featuring Mongolian folk-metal band Uuhai, Korean rock outfit Kardi, and Thai indie group Kiki. International recitals, art installations and November’s outdoor Asian Ethnic Cultural Performances carnival round out the autumn line-up.
