And just like that, Hari Raya 2023 festivities arrive this weekend. Shopping malls and more delightful attractions in the Klang Valley have certainly risen to the occasion to celebrate the season through vibrant decorations and exciting activities.

From Pavilion Kuala Lumpur's stunning stained-glass panels and Coach's first-ever 'Bespoke Raya' installation in Southeast Asia to Da Men USJ's colourful and quirky bazaars, these are the places to be for exciting performances, promotions, and Instagram-worthy backdrops. Get ready to celebrate the Raya season with Pavilion KL’s Raya Togetherness campaign. From now till April 24, shoppers can immerse themselves in the rich and Instagram-worthy atmosphere of the Centre Court, which features a 150-year-old heritage house transformed with batik decoration and experiential projection mapping. Shoppers can head over to the Raya Togetherness Marketplace and be spoiled for choice with exclusive designs from local designers such as Jovian, Captain Batik, and Pandora. They can also pay a visit to the Artisan Malaysia Raya 2023 Pop-up at Tokyo Street Event Hall on Level 6 to shop a range of delightful handicrafts. 

The Raya 2023 festivities have also seen the shopping mall’s famed Crystal Fountain transformed with illuminated crescents, stars, and oversized lanterns for Coach’s Bespoke Raya installation—the first of its kind in Southeast Asia.

At Da Men USJ's Rentak Irama Raya celebrations from March 29 March to May 21, shoppers can expect riveting traditional musical performances featuring rhythmic gamelan and upbeat dikir barat, along with vibrant kampung-themed decorations inspired by the traditional Malay musical instruments and lush green gardens of old-school kampung life.

Shoppers can participate in fun activities such as the Longest Doodle in a Mall, a kompang competition hosted by the VR Drumming Academy, a Raya arts and crafts workshop, and a nasi lemak-eating competition. The Rentak Irama Raya Bazaar here takes place on weekends—the ideal place to shop for Raya essentials, including local delicacies, gift hampers, house decorations and more. 

Intermark Mall

This Raya, Intermark Mall pays tribute to one of Malaysia’s oldest traditional artforms with its Weaving Raya campaign from now till April 30. The mall has collaborated with acclaimed local weaver Asmah Ismail to showcase her intricate designs in an exhibition.

Shoppers can also experience traditional performances, fun craft activities and exciting art installations. Intermark Mall is also collaborating with Taylor’s International School Kuala Lumpur to weave 1,000 pieces of ketupat, a symbol of unity and gratitude, to raise funds for orphanages. There will also be free ketupat-making workshops on March 31, and April 8, 14 and 20 at 12pm, along with gamelan and kompang performances and traditional Malay dances on select dates.   

Spritzer EcoPark

Spritzer EcoPark is embracing the festive spirit of Hari Raya with its Raya, Mestilah Meriah 390-acre green space, available to visitors from now until May 22. The park's festive decorations pay homage to balik kampung memories with a modern twist, featuring recycled bottles and highlighting Spritzer's commitment to sustainability.

Visitors can participate in activities such as pedal kart rides, mini golf, crafting with recycled materials, and more until April 30. During the festival, visitors can also try Spritzer's newly added Sparkling Nanas Laici drink, a recipe created by Khairul Aming and approved by Spritzer ambassadors Ayda Jebat and Meerqeen.

The Curve

Visitors to The Curve in Mutiara Damansara will see the shopping mall's Centre Court transformed into a traditional Malay village that's evocative of balik kampung memories. Shoppers can immerse themselves in a life-sized three-dimensional rumah kampung surrounded by a mock paddy field and decorative touches like scarecrows and pangkin.

The Nostalgia Raya theme, which extends into the Fashion Court, Fashion Walk, and The Street, runs from March 25 to April 24. The mall also offers activities such as dance and instrumental performances, a children's workshop, and a meet-and-greet session with legendary rocker Amy Search on April 15 at 6pm at The Curve's Centre Court. 

Suria KLCC

Don't miss the festive goings-on at Suria KLCC this Hari Raya from now till May 1. The shopping centre takes inspiration from the fishing villages of Malaysia's East Coast this festive season, boasting a traditional wooden rumah kampung elevated on stilts and surrounded by a picturesque landscape.

Visitors can participate in traditional games such as teng teng or hopscotch, gasing or spinning tops, and congkak, and watch cultural dances at the Centre Court and Ramlee Mall. An interactive wayang kulit allows shoppers to control the shadow puppets, and a photo booth is available for taking festive photos with loved ones.

Once again, the Esplanade KLCC will be home to the 50ft Pelita Replica, which made it into the Malaysia Book of Records in 2022 as the largest pelita replica. This year, it will make a comeback alongside other traditional Hari Raya elements, providing visitors with a perfect opportunity to immerse themselves in the vibrant atmosphere of a Malaysian village.
