Ahead of March, or art month as it’s known in Hong Kong, four galleries at H Queen’s are hosting a new round of exhibitions and teaming up to introduce emerging artists in a new video series

Nestled in the heart of Hong Kong, H Queen’s has established itself as a hub where world-class galleries converge with the finest dining and lifestyle establishments, reinvigorating the experience of art and culture in the city.

Kicking off 2024, and ushering in the month of March—or art month—with an array of world-class exhibitions, the four galleries at H Queen’s are currently presenting Neo Rauch: Field Signs, All Walks of Life, Wang Zhongjie Solo Exhibition: River Valley of Love and Debbie Reda: Masters. From realist to highly imaginative, each exhibition explores different perspectives on life and death.

H Queen’s latest endeavour in its commitment to foster public art appreciation, the freshly produced video series Elevated Artistic Encounters, will be released this week on their social media platforms. In collaboration with David Zwirner, Pace Gallery, Tang Contemporary Art and Whitestone Gallery, the video series follows four leading art practitioners, who guide us through the galleries through their own eyes, imparting insights on the power of a physical exhibition and shedding light on their individual roles within the art community.

At Whitestone Gallery—a pioneer in the curation of Japanese art—CEO Koei Shiraishi takes us through the previous exhibition Sebastian Chaumeton: Baby Blue and talks about how he views exhibitions as a path to building genuine connections with people. “My father founded Whitestone in Tokyo in 1967 to bring his love for art to the nation. Following in his footsteps, I carry on his mission of cultivating the appreciation of art worldwide,” he says of his role.

Just a few floors up, at Tang Contemporary Art, where Leng Guangmin: Shells garner Lingering Light was on view, sales and marketing manager Zoe Tsang discusses the way galleries play a vital role in nurturing artistic expression, cultural discourse and art appreciation. “To me, physical art exhibitions go beyond just displaying visual art. They curate the ambience and installation, which significantly influence how the audience perceives the artworks,” she says.

Over at David Zwirner, amid the latest exhibition, Neo Rauch: Field Signs, which showcases new paintings by the German artist by the same name, Vera Lam, curator and director of non-profit art organisation HART, speaks about constructing the layers of meaning that are conveyed through an exhibition. “My vision as a curator is to keep cultivating emerging artists, and to use art as a medium to serve more purposes and communicate to a wider audience,” she says.

Walking us through Brice Guilbert: Ti brulé at Pace Gallery, art writer Yulia Yarkova believes the best way to appreciate art is by creating experiences that resonate with viewers. “To me, art has the power to influence and to move people. It helps us connect with ourselves, ideas, places and each other, which strengthens the sense of community among all of us,” she says.

Bringing together these multiple perspectives on the exhibition experience, Elevated Artistic Encounters is a collective story that allows exhibition-goers and art enthusiasts to discover more of H Queen’s and the renowned exhibitions that pass through its doors. As an art hub in Asia housing renowned international galleries, H Queen’s will celebrate the annual art month with visitors, art aficionados and some of the most celebrated contemporary artists with a range of specially curated exhibitions. Stay tuned for their exciting offers and latest updates on H Queen’s Facebook and Instagram.
