Edouard Malingue Gallery presents this life-size sculpture in Central for its worldwide debut

Created using resin and fiberglass, Pentateuque by French artist Fabien Mérelle, depicts a man balancing an elephant on his back. The artist, who uses whimsy, humour and storytelling to inspire his work, explains that the sculpture predominantly makes witty reference to the five books of the Bible and examines ‘carrying a weight on one’s shoulders’ for an individual living up to religious, societal and cultural expectations.

Brought to Hong Kong by the Edouard Malingue gallery for its worldwide debut, Pentateuque will be on display in Statue Square Garden in Central from May 21 to June 15, 2013.

With rave reviews around the world and praise for the sculpture’s intense detailing and intellectual message, the sculpture is definitely one to look out for.
