GMG Productions is bringing the critically acclaimed musical ‘Dear Evan Hansen’ to the Philippines for the first time

Since its Broadway debut in 2016, the Tony Award-winning musical Dear Evan Hansen has touched audiences across the globe with its powerful themes of loneliness, mental health, and self-acceptance. Written by Steven Levenson and music by Benj Pasek and Justin Paul, the show has garnered four Tony Awards, the Olivier Award for Best New Musical, and the Grammy Award for Best Musical Theatre Album—and fans have been craving for more.

“Filipino audiences have been asking for Dear Evan Hansen for years, and we’re beyond excited to finally bring this production to Manila,” says Carlos Candal, CEO of GMG Productions.

The musical follows Evan, an anxiety-ridden 17-year-old high school student who wishes to fit in. When his therapist suggests he write letters to himself to boost his confidence, he’s backed into a corner to face an impossible decision: to tell the truth and lose everything he’s dreamed of or embrace a false life that he didn’t earn.

“The story, music, and message of Dear Evan Hansen resonate so deeply with so many people, and we can’t wait for Filipino fans to experience it live,” continues Candal.

Under GMG Productions, the UK touring production of the show brings one of the most celebrated musicals in the past decade to our shores.

Dear Evan Hansen has thrilled audiences on both sides of the Atlantic since it first premiered in 2016. Evan’s powerful story grips and moves people through a captivating script and musical score. This exciting UK and International tour production offers the opportunity to reexamine some of its contemporary themes and present this brand-new version to more people,” says Adam Penford, director.

Dear Evan Hansen will run this September 2025 at the Theatre at Solaire. Tickets will go on sale on April 15. For more information, visit GMG Productions’ social media pages.
