Christo and Jeanne-Claude as artists have delighted all corners of the globe with their temporary installations, yet the story of their artistic friendships has been entirely private. This sale will allow the first glimpse of these friendships and connections that influenced and surrounded them.

Some of the works link to Andy Warhol, Yves Klein, Nam June Paik, Marcel Duchamp and many more.

"Together with his partner Jeanne-Claude, Christo changed the visual language of art in a way that no other artist has done before, transforming the public’s perspective and expectations of what art can be and how it can be experienced," said Simon Shaw, vice chairman of Global Fine Art.

"Sotheby’s auction of their personal collection will provide a unique glimpse of their personal and professional world, and we are honoured to pay tribute to this internationally renowned duo, who hold a fundamental place in the history of contemporary art," he adds.

The live auction will take place at 18:00 CET. An exhibition of the works for sale will run in Paris from February 11–21 except February 14, 2021. Interested bidders will need to register online. If you need assistance with bidding and registration, please contact enquiries@sothebys.com.
