Behind the scenes, these versatile Asian actors and singers pick up their pencils and paintbrushes to create an entirely different art of their own

These celebrities dabble in different art forms apart from what they're renowned for, giving us more reasons to admire them. Whether it's painting or doing sketches, these stars certainly know how to portray their vision on a blank canvas.

1. Lucy Liu

We know Lucy Liu from Charlie's Angels as she appeared as the alluring yet dangerous angel, Alex. While the award-winning actress began her acting career in the '90s, Liu also started painting as early as 1993.

In February 2020, Liu had her first museum exhibition in the US titled, “One Of These Things Is Not Like The Others” at the Napa Valley Museum Yountville.

2. Solenn Heussaff

Solenn Heussaff has a flair for the arts apart from acting, hosting, and designing. This multi-talented star chooses to create art to raise awareness through her works. Heussaff even collaborated with Studio Soliven to paint nature-inspired images on carpets for many to bring into their homes in 2019.

She had the opportunity to present "Kundiman", her collection of paintings, at Modeka Gallery in 2021.

3. Jungkook

Jungkook, a member of the Grammy-nominated K-pop group BTS, is a man of many talents. It's not a surprise to fans that their favourite artist can also paint, draw, and design many others including J-Hope's shoes and an artful gas mask which was displayed at the BTS art exhibition.

4. Heart Evangelista

There's more to love about Heart Evangelista apart from her impeccable style and fashion sense. As early as 2014, Evangelista has been creating impressive works of art. She had presented her paintings both in the Philippines and Singapore. 

Her most recent solo exhibit, "In Full Bloom" was held at the Ayala Museum's ArtistSpace.

5. Kim Jae-kyung

Kim Jae-kyung rose to fame when she became part of the K-pop girl group, Rainbow. Now, she's making headlines as a beloved actress, appearing in A Way Station and The Secret Life of My Secretary among many others.

But the South Korean actress also once shared her talent for sketching after posting a photo of her and her drawing on Twitter.

6. Ha Ji-won

Jeon Hae-rim, popularly known as Ha Ji-won, finally made her debut as an artist. Although the Empress Ki actress has always loved painting, Ji-won never had the opportunity to pursue art entirely until recently. Her abstract pieces have already started conversations and it did not take long until two of her works have been sold.

7. Koo Hye-sun

While many fans have loved seeing Koo Hye-sun in various shows like Boys Over Flowers, it seems the actress has decided to pursue a career in art. Hye-sun has had her works showcased at exhibits in South Korea, such as "Voyage ‘Again and Again’" at the Jinsan Gallery in 2020 and her solo exhibit "Koo Hye Sun's New Age under Seo Taiji's Lyrics" at the Hangaram Museum in Seoul Arts Center in 2021. Now, the Korean star is ready to join the NFT realm with her new creations.
