Design and art creatively meet for the third time at Abitare Internazionale’s latest effort in promoting and immortalising National Artist Benedicto “BenCab” Cabrera’s artworks as the purveyor of leading contemporary European home essentials releases its third series of Moooi carpets

Aimed at raising meaningful conversations, connections, and possibilities, Abitare Internazionale brings back its unique collection series of works by National Artist for Visual Arts Benedicto “BenCab” Cabrera, beautifully rendered in digitally designed carpets by Dutch lifestyle company Moooi Carpets.

This third limited edition includes eight works from Cabrera’s Larawan and Sabel series. The National Artist’s original masterpieces have been transformed into contemporary tapestries “in innovative, dramatic, and monumental expression,” as Abitare Internazionale states.

Inspired by large tapestries of Dutch masters at Milan’s Salone de Mobile eight years ago, Abitare Internazionale gave birth to its first collection in collaboration with Cabrera and Moooi Carpets. Inspired by the National Artist’s immensely varied work, the collections go beyond traditional painting—canvas and frames emerged, consisting of his iconic muses, characters and themes that would be normally seen in a gallery, museum, or hidden away in a collector’s home.

For the third collection, which was recently launched at The Peninsula Manila’s iconic lobby, Abitare Internazionale and Moooi Carpets contacted some of the foremost collectors of Cabrera’s works to document the selected pieces’ original versions.

Each piece was created through massive chromojet 800 printing facilities in the Netherlands, creating rich colours and imagery in high-quality photorealistic detail.

Rooted in boundless possibilities, these tapestries embody a seamless meeting of design and art, as technological innovation aids in the creation of new and exciting expressions appropriate for today’s space and stylistic requirements.

“With its sheer and generous scale, these tapestries also evoke emotion and feelings, stretching from memories and remembrances that tug within us, reminding us of our pasts and pointing to our tomorrows,” Abitare Internazionale wrote in a statement.
