This year, Ballet Philippines seeks to give its audiences yet another whimsical holiday experience. Choreographed by its artistic director Mikhail “Misha” Martynyuk, the dance group illuminates the stage with a full-length performance of 'The Nutcracker'
The weather was fairly nice when Tatler joined Ballet Philippines for tea at the MiraNila Heritage House in Quezon City. The dance group sought to show snippets of its much-awaited The Nutcracker show which audiences may enjoy on December 17 and 18 at the Cultural Center of The Philippines' (CCP) main lobby.
The performance, which artistic director Misha Martynyuk intricately choreographed, was just as gratifying as guests expected it to be. Among the most striking parts (and one that the public must not miss) was the Sugarplum Pas de Deux.
"This is our second show for the 53rd season," says Ballet Philippines president Kathleen Liechtenstein. "It is not by accident that we're putting out Nutcracker, we really had a well-thought-out plan. We've been remarkably cooped up in our homes for two Christmases."

Dancing Billboards
The first of its kind among professional dance companies in the country, Ballet Philippines’ dancing billboards and posters endeavour to capture the magic and movement of dance. As the country’s premier dance company, it only made sense that all its communication be told through movement. “This new approach in marketing follows our season’s call to 'dance where no one else has.' In our mission to bring audiences high calibre dance to the widest possible audience, we felt that a dancing billboard would expand our reach beyond the four walls of the theatre.”
