The Altro Mondo gallery features the outstanding creations of Kim Santiago and Jared Yokte.

It was the famous Greek philosopher and scientist Aristotle who said, “The aim of art is to represent not the outward appearance of things, but their inward significance.” Art has been an outlet of oppression and expression that has garnered an audience that wants to feel and see these vivid images.

Altro Mondo Arte Contemporanea, which was launched in the summer of 2010, has continued to pursue local and international contemporary art. The gallery is recognised for introducing highly acclaimed virtuosi from across the globe. It is also committed in promoting young and emerging artists beside those who are commercially and critically renowned.

Altro Mondo organises an exclusive art exhibit preview of the works by two artists, Kim Santiago and Jared Yokte, who both utilise a distinctive manipulation in style and medium for their masterpieces.

Kim Santiago

Kim Santiago’s art works entitled ‘Questions’ emit a trace of religious undertone. The metaphoric symbol is the veil that covers the bare bodies of figures that seem to be taking it off or seductively summoning its removal. The paintings manifest the unanimity of both temptation and sensuality as nakedness presents a vulnerable or unprotected subject in contrast to nudeness that simply shows the unclothed. The work evokes the fall of man in the Book of Genesis, demanding responsibility and understanding of the attributes of good versus evil.

Jared Yokte

Jared Yokte’s works entitled ‘Down the Rabbit Hole’ present a meddling influence of conversation. The consistent and polished representation of the characters guarantees a story, but their common plot has yet to be divulged. They emphasize their influence through the mysterious and natural aesthetic flair of the artist. Every character’s eye is a mere visual cue formed to intuitively lock onto the eyes of another. This portrays a peak into the window to the soul. His figures lack mouths to impede any apparent reaction of speech.
