Istituto Italiano di Cultura Jakarta teamed up with Insitut Français Indonesia Jakarta to host a unique theatre performance entitled “Leonardo Da Vinci – An impossible interview” by Massimiliano Finazzer Flory on March 30th at IFI. Timing: 8pm.
Taman Ismail Marzuki is hosting 2017 Jazz Festival on March 31 at 6.30pm where more than 70 musicians divided into 16 groups will be doing live music performance on stage. Beforehand, the venue will be hosting free workshops such as jazz guitar improvisation, live sound engineering and jazz style, among others. Fee: Rp 90,000.
Dia Lo Gue is hosting a photo exhibition by Dilla Djalil-Daniel entitled ‘A Trunk and Other Tails’, which will start from March 30th until April 9th. The exhibition will be curated by Irma Chantily and will feature the relationship between human and animals.
On March 31, international DJ Armin van Buuren will be playing at JIEXPO Kemayoran Jakarta as part of his world tour: ‘Armin Only Embrace’. The performance will be accompanied with live performances by acclaimed artists as Mr. Probz, Kensington, Eric Vloeimans, Cimo Fränkel, Betsie Larkin, to name a few.
Nightlife Updates (March 31): The Safehouse is turning 3 and will celebrate by featuring a line-up of independent live & electronic music along with a special poetry jam; Jenja Jakarta is inviting party goers to dance to Samuel Kindermann a.k.a. Einmusik all night long; Baxter Smith Jakarta is also celebrating its first anniversary with performance by Dibram, Dito and Halumi at 9pm.

Plaza Indonesia is holding its fashion week from March 20 to 25 and will present fashion collections from 31 Indonesian designers and four from international class. The annual fashion week will be held at The Warehouse on level 5. Among the top Indonesian designers are Auguste Soesastro, Danjyo Hiyoji, Didiet Maulana, Rama Dauhan, Pop U by Populo and The Goods Dept.
In conjunction with Earth Hour, The Sultan Hotel & Residence Jakarta is hosting a running event called #LariUntukBumi on March 25 from 8.30 – 9.30 PM. The Earth Hour 2017 is supported by WWF Indonesia.
As part of its Helateater Salihara 2017, Salihara is staging ‘Metropolis’ on March 25 at its Black Box Theater. Monopolis highlights economic and social issues, and the rule of law that is directed by Kurniasih Zaitun from Komunitas Hitam Putih. The play will presented its conflict and dialogue through the body, stage properties, dramatic encounters, sounds and artistic design. Timing: 8pm.
Erasmus Huis teamed up with Permata Bank and presented photo exhibition entitled ‘Trust’ by eight of Permata PhotoJournalist Grand 2016. The exhibition will be held from March 23 to April 28 at Erasmus Huise.
RUCI Art Space is hosting an art exhibition entitled ‘Y: Collect 2.0’ from March till April 9th. The exhibition aimed to provide a platform to introduce to the broader public the idealism and significance of art collecting. Curated by Grace Samboh, the exhibition will showcase the works from Paula Dewiyanti, S. Santosa, Dian Sastrowardoyo, Marissa Soeryadjaya and Simon Tan.
Goethe-Institut Indonesien is still hosting Fast Fashion and Slow Fashion Lab exhibition until April 9th at Gudang Sarinah Ekosistem. The exhibition is part of its IKAT/eCUT programme: a project exploring the past, present and future of textiles in Southeast Asia, Australia and Germany. Timing: 10am-7pm.
Nightlife Update: Arasseo in Senopati area is hosting a live music performance by Fabiolous on March 24th called ‘Busking Bingo’; Empirica Jakarta is inviting all party-goers to the dance floor on March 25th with ‘Salt & Bae’ where DJ Cream and DJ PDouble will be in charge; Lola Jakarta is hosting its most-anticipated underground party again on March 27th (yes, it’s on Monday!) starting from 9pm.

Goethe-Institut Indonesien is hosting an exhibition ‘For Keepsake, Keep Me!’ from March 16 to 26 where it will exhibit 30 different fabric materials that each comes with different backstory. The exhibition is part of IKAT/eCUT programme: a project exploring the past, present and future of textiles in Southeast Asia, Australia and Germany, and will be curated by Ika Vantiani.
Artoz Bar is celebrating St. Patrick’s Day on March 17th with special offer for myriad of libations, which include Irish whiskey, John Jameson, and much more. The evening will also see the performance by Supernova band.
Aula Simfonia Jakarta is hosting a rendition of Haydn & Mozart on March 18th at its venue. The concert will present VITALI Chaconne in G Minor, HAYDN Symphony no. 6, 7, 8 (Morning, Noon, Night “Trilogy”) and MOZART Symphony no.35. Time: 5pm; Ticket: Rp 150,000 to 1,500,000.
Beautyfest Asia 2017 is taking place from March 18 to 19 at Ciputra Artpreneur and will feature a mélange of activities, such as beauty class, talk show, beauty awards and meet & greet with beauty influencers from Tina Yong, Ayla Dimitri and Thailand’s Pearypie, and many more!
Suar Artspace is hosting photography exhibition ‘Baur Rasa’ on March 19th at its venue. The exhibition will feature the works of Imron Zuhri, Adriani and Tandika Cendrawan, among others.
The second #FestivalMuralRPTRA workshop by Art Sip Jakarta will be held on March 18 and 19 at different locations across Jakarta. The free workshop will invite several well-known names in the local art scene to share their knowledge and followed by live mural demonstration.

Universitas Indonesia is hosting the 7th ‘Music Festival’ on March 11th at Kuningan City Ballroon. The event already have some impressive line-up, such as UK-based electronic music duo HONNE, The Trees and The Wild, Polka Wars, Stars and Rabbit, and more.
Kinosaurus is hosting a series of movie screenings: Rocket Rain and Noksa will be held on March 10th.
Salihara is hosting ‘Helateater Salihara 2017’ with theme entitled “Teater Tubuh” (Body Theatre) starting from March 11 to 25th. The event is inviting an array of performers, such as Sena A Utoyo of Sena Didi Mime troupe, Studio Taksu’s Burung-Burung Prenjak and Komunitas Seni Hitam Putih with Monopolis directed by Kurniasih Zaitun. The event will be held every Saturday throughout March.
The Westlife’s alumnus Shane Filan is staging another concert in Jakarta on March 14 at The Hall Senayan City called ‘Right Here’. Time: 8-10pm.
Warung Turki is hosting a cooking class with Chef Sezai Zorlu on March 15. The class will starts at 10.30am and followed by lunch sharing together with all the participants with menus including Etli Borek, Lamb Izmir Kofte and Frinda Sutlac. Baxtersmith is hosting ‘Soundstations: Suara Disko’ on March 11th featuring Indonesia's music legend Fariz RM as well as Diskoria team (DJ Aat & DJ Merdi).
On March 2 to 5, Opera Ikan Asin, a Teater Koma adaptation of The Threepenny Opera by Berthold Brecht, will be staged at the Ciputra Artpreneur Theater, Jakarta. From March 7 until 27, the National Gallery in Jakarta will once again present a 27-day biennale “Rest Area–Perupa Membaca Indonesia” (“Rest Area –Artists Reading Indonesia”).
