Patrons of the renowned hotel in Tagaytay breathe in Metro Manila the cool breeze from Taal with its touring anniversary exhibition.

Exhibition opening at SM Aura

Built in 1939 at the heart of picturesque Tagaytay, Taal Vista Hotel presents its 75-year-old history and heritage in a touring exhibition in Metro Manila from September to November. Taal Vista Hotel recently unveiled its History and Heritage exhibition on September 18 on the ground floor of SM Aura, Bonifacio Global City. Opening the gallery were SM Hotels and Convention Corporation President Elizabeth Sy, Taal Vista Hotel Area General Manager Walid Wafik, and exhibition curator Corazon Alvina, who is a former Metropolitan Museum and National Museum Director.

Highlighted in the exhibition are significant milestones in Taal Vista Hotel’s history, memorable experiences with some of its notable guests, and artists’ rendition of the beautiful landscape of Taal Lake and Tagaytay City. The exhbition will be on view from September 18 to 24.

“It was quite a challenge to make this exhibition,” Alvina revealed. “Because the difficulty was trying to make a distinction between the Taal Vista Hotel and Taal Volcano. Eventually, we came to realize that they share many of these things: names, exquisite landscape and waterscape, and they both provided many Filipinos (who have gone to these places and took it as a resort from Metro Manila) memories. Both of them share not only the vista (view) but also a vision to the future.”

The English Tudor Mansion-style hotel has become a part of the Filipino heritage. Former President Manuel Quezon was known to be a frequent visitor to the city and asked the people behind Manila Hotel to build a similar establishment in that area. Today, Taal Vista Hotel boasts 261 stylishly appointed rooms and modern amenities. The hotel’s culinary offerings could be experienced by travelling guests at Café Veranda, which features heritage cuisine as well as organic dishes, and Lobby Lounge, which offers house-blended concoctions, famous Batangas coffee, and freshly baked cakes and pastries. The hotel also has other modern amenities where guests can unwind. With its four ballrooms and 12 function rooms, it has also become a popular choice for scenic weddings and dynamic meetings.
