So whether you’re looking to invest in property abroad, or just want a look into some of the most expensive homes in Asia, here are six of the most exclusive apartment buildings.

1. Hannam The Hill, Seoul

Known as not only the most expensive apartment complex in South Korea, Hannam The Hill in Seoul is also home to several members of superstar group BTS and is found in one of the city’s most exclusive neighbourhoods.

The luxury apartment complex won the Seoul Architecture Award in 2013, with the 600 units spread across 32 buildings, and the homes each feature open space living and dining areas, huge marble-finished bathrooms, and incredible views of downtown Seoul. Hannam The Hill also houses a huge gym complex, several communal pools and a golf range for its high profile residents. It was widely reported that BTS paid 7.4 billion won (US$6.53 million) in 2017, with the complex holding the top spot in South Korea’s most expensive list since 2015.

2. Wallich Residence, Singapore

Singapore’s tallest residential development, Wallich Residence features 181 luxury homes consisting of one to four bedroom units and four penthouses, along with one Super Penthouse––known as the 'bungalow in the sky'––on the 62nd and 64th floors of the building. As another exclusive residential complex that has attracted household names, in 2019 billionaire James Dyson purchased the super penthouse for S$74 million (approx. US55.5million). However, Dyson reportedly sold the apartment in 2020 at a loss for S$62million. 

The three-storey, 21,108 sq ft super penthouse boasts five en-suite bedrooms, along with a dining room, living room, entertainment room and utility room. In addition to a private pool, cabana, jacuzzi room and a 600-bottle wine cellar, the apartment also offers unobstructed views of Marina Bay and Sentosa Island. Amenities for residents include a stunning infinity pool on level 39, a private library on level 52 and observation platforms on level 62, as well as the hotel-inspired Wallich Concierge Service.

3. 98 Wireless, Bangkok

Found on Bangkok’s prestigious tree-lined boulevard, Wireless Road, 98 Wireless is the epitome of luxury living. Completed in 2016, the 25 storey building features 77 two and three bedroom residential properties and penthouse units––with the penthouses said to start from 34 million baht (approximately US$10.9 million). 

Facilities include a large shared outdoor garden terrace, business lounge, tea room, outdoor swimming pool, semi-outdoor jacuzzi, fitness studio, spa and massage Room, multi-purpose exercise room, children’s play room and steam room, along with residents having access to a dedicated butler service, chauffeured Bentley and on-site concierge service by Quintessentially.

4. The Park Court Akasaka Hinokicho Tower, Tokyo

One of Tokyo’s most exclusive residential buildings is The Park Court Akasaka Hinokicho Tower in the Minato ward of the city. Completed in 2018, the 44-storey apartment tower features 322 apartments in total, the residence also has a front desk with concierge service, gym, rooftop deck, view lounge and party room.

When the apartments initially went on sale, one bedroom residences started at 155.6 million yen (approx. US$1.2 million), with the 2,195 sq.ft, 3-Bedroom penthouse apartment––which offers views of Mount Fuji from its private sky lounge––selling for 1.5 billion yen (US$12.7 million).

5. Carmichael Residences, Mumbai

India may be home to the most expensive house in the world––the private property of Mukesh Ambani, which is priced at over US$1 billion––and it also has its fair share of luxurious apartment buildings. Located on Mumbai’s upmarket Carmichael Road, Carmichael Residences promises to provide a tranquil oasis from the energy of the city, connecting residents with lush vegetation that surrounds the property. The 21 storey building features 28 units building, offering uninterrupted views of the city and ocean beyond, along with a wealth of facilities for residents.

In December 2020 it was reported that a prominent family in Mumbai purchased two apartments in Carmichael Residences for Rs 101 crore (approx. US$13.7 million). Prior to this, in July 2020, two other apartments had been purchased by an individual in the same property for Rs 100 crore.

6. The Estate Makati, Philippines

The Estate Makati is a high-rise residential condominium development located in Manila’s Makati City. The development offers 188 residential units, including two-bedroom and three-bedroom flats, along with multi-level penthouse and super penthouse suites. 

Though the Estate Makati is not set to open until 2023 and is currently still under construction, the luxurious condominium boasts a coveted spot along Makati City’s Ayala Avenue, and––with each unit priced at US$10,500 per square meter––it is currently the most expensive pre-selling project in Manila. All units promise residents unobstructed views of the impressive Makati skyline, along with facilities such as a pool, wine lounge, sky garden and fitness centre for residents.
