This 71-foot yacht, which recently arrived in Hong Kong from France, looks and feels differently from your run-of-the-mill luxury boat thanks to a clever layout that maximises space throughout the vessel.

Created by French yacht builder Prestige as its flagship model, the X70 features a pioneering design that eliminates the side decks we usually see on yachts. This means the main deck saloon, a beautiful space designed for entertaining and relaxing, takes up the beam of the boat.

Meanwhile, the forward deck can be accessed from the flybridge (the area atop the cabin), and the swim platform has been transformed into a “beach club” complete with a hydraulic platform that offers sloped access to the water. There are also thoughtful touches like a stainless steel overhead shower on the platform.

Yacht designers Garroni Design and Militerno De Romedis are the brains behind the interiors. The idea behind the boat is to create a feel of a luxury villa on water, so it’s no surprise its furnishings are top-notch. The leather throughout the space is created by Italian firm Foglizzo, while the sofas are from heritage French furniture company Duvivier. The lacquer and high-gloss finishings are applied manually.

Below deck, there are four bedrooms, including a master suite with walk-in closets. The yacht’s three bathrooms feel spacious and offer plenty of storage units.

Released by famed Italian luxury yacht manufacturing firm Azimut, the Magellano 25 Metri takes inspiration from the idea of a “penthouse overlooking the sea”.

Designers Ken Freivokh and Vincenzo de Cotiis were responsible for the timeless look and feel throughout the vessel—think details like a spiral staircase that connects the main cabin with the flybridge. On the rear of the boat, slatted teak panels add a classic touch.

Other features, which would come in handy on extended trips at sea, include a hydraulic table that does double duty as both a dining table and coffee table, and extendable deck spaces that allow versatility.

Listing price: €6.05 million (approximately HK$54.04 million)

Introduced in summer 2021, the 112-foot Sanlorenzo SD118 has a number of outstanding features, including a living and dining area designed to be one sizeable, flowing space.

The interiors are much wider than on many other yachts thanks to an asymmetrical design: while a walkway is typically present on the left and right sides of yachts, here on the SD118 it is only present on the left. The space on the right becomes part of the interior space in the saloon. Meanwhile, foldable size terraces maximise the space for relaxing and entertaining. There are five bedrooms, all ensuites, as well as an extra guest bathroom.

This model is designed by yacht design and architecture studio Zuccon International Projects. It's part of the SD fleet by Italian yacht builder Sanlorenzo, which takes inspiration from 1930s Trans-Atlantic liners.

Built by Bluegame, a new brand under Sanlorenzo, the BGX70 generated considerable interest from potential buyers and existing yacht owners when it first arrived in Hong Kong last year, says the firm’s Asia dealer Simpson Marine.

The 71.1-foot yacht features windshields that would typically be used on warships and tugboats. A creative layout allows for “continuity of spaces,” winning her the “most avant-garde yacht” accolade at Cannes Yachting Festival 2019. There are two bedrooms, both ensuites, and a additional guest bathroom.

What's more, the yacht comprises a variety of sustainable materials, including woods certified by the Forest Stewardship Council, an international body; zero-impact sustainable leather; and LED lighting, to name a few.

BGX70 was designed by Olympic-sailor-turned-architect Luca Santella, who is the founder of Bluegame, along with yacht design specialists Zuccon International Project.

Boasting an innovative design, Adastra launched in 2012 and is known as the first luxury power trimaran of its size in the world.

Adastra is especially well-regarded among superyacht enthusiasts for her futuristic design, but she’s far from a boat with all style and no substance. The 140-foot vessel was commissioned by Hong Kong shipping tycoon Anto Marden, who told Tatler Asia in 2012 that he’d wanted to “build a big boat to travel around the world in.”

The yacht is capable of crossing the Atlantic twice without refuelling. Custom-built details dominate the interiors, and there’s a sleek, modern feel across the five bedrooms, four bathrooms and spacious saloon.

Listing price: US$10 million (approximately HK$77.08 million)
Available for sale at Burgess Yachts
