A house that Frank Sinatra once called home—and dubbed “America’s most filmed private location”—is now on the market.
The 8,161 sq ft, seven-bedroom, nine-bathroom luxury estate, known as Byrdview or Farralone and Fox House, sits on 13 acres of private land in the Los Angeles suburb of Chatsworth.
The home, built in the mid-century modern style, has seen plenty of famous faces pass through its doors. Apart from Sinatra, who reportedly lived there in the late 1950s and early 1960s, it was also where a variety of films and TV shows were filmed, including 2006’s Dreamgirls, starring Beyoncé, and the hit series Mad Men and Californication, among others. Parts of the music video for Miley Cyrus’s 2023 hit Flowers were filmed there.
According to the listing, it was a “playground for Hollywood’s elite”: Judy Garland, Ava Gardner, and Lucille Ball are just some of the legendary celebrities who have attended parties here. Former US president John F Kennedy and Marilyn Monroe were said to have had a rendezvous in the guest house.
As a famed filming location—“every studio, every production designer and every location manager know about this fabled property”—it has historically generated between US$750,000 to US$1.2 million a year in profits, according to the listing. The property is listed by Craig Knizek and Blair Chang of The Agency, a global real estate brokerage firm—the life and work of its teams are depicted on Netflix’s Buying Beverly Hills.
