DIN Studio breathes fresh life into a classic architecture, striking an effortless balance between mid-century flair and the calming rhythms of a private resort.

Tucked away in the quiet, leafy pocket of Yen Akat, this sanctuary enjoys an exclusivity afforded by its intimate neighbourhood. Yet its true brilliance lies beyond sheer privacy: the structure is an architectural artifact by master architect Robert G. Boughey—the visionary behind Thai landmarks like the Bangkok Art and Culture Centre (BACC) and Siam Discovery.

Rather than stripping away this pedigree, DIN Studio reimagined the interior volumes from within, fusing mid-century sophistication with a tailored resort-like leisure tailored to the homeowner’s lifestyle.

Unfolding over five subtle half-levels, the home's split-level design creates an engaging spatial rhythm. Designers Pitikor Yoswattana and Varvanit Jirarangsee-rat of DIN Studio refined this layout, turning potential boundaries into fluid transitions tailored for daily living.

The entrance foyer makes an immediate statement with a sunken living area—a direct nod to the iconic 1960s "conversation pit"—centered around a tailored black leather sofa. Stepping down into the room creates an intimate, grounded sanctuary while visually raising the ceiling overhead. Just alongside, a custom mini-bar features a deep maroon terrazzo top paired with rich dark timber, supported by curved, hand-bent brass legs that lend it a sculptural flair.

Rising behind the sofa, the staircase to the second floor was completely reimagined to open up the core volume. Attached to a wall clad in handmade black ceramic tiles, the new stair design draws on mid-century graphic geometry. Its initial three steps are finished in maroon terrazzo, directly mirroring the mini-bar counter to establish a seamless material thread.

Further up, the mood shifts into a softer, welcoming pantry and dining zone. Designed for both casual lingering and formal dinners, the dining table sits at the center of the space. Tucked away inside the timber cabinetry is a delightful touch by DIN Studio: a stainless-steel handwashing nook that catches light, setting off a sharp contrast against the warmth of handcrafted furniture and raw textures.

The compact study offers a bright, energising retreat, wrapped in garden views that spill through grand window openings. Lively green seating sparks a creative mood, while the walk-in closet directly above makes a bolder impression with white-and-black burl wood veneers. Paired with an emerald green stone counter, the space achieves a striking, refined polish.

The top two storeys serve as a private haven where resort-inspired leisure comes into its own. Though arranged across different levels, the bedroom and open bath share sightlines without solid walls or glass, screened only by subtle roller blinds when privacy is preferred. The hero feature is a freestanding tub wrapped in the same emerald green stone seen downstairs, set against a shower enclosure lined with graphic black-and-white striped tiles.

The bedroom itself feels soothing and quiet. Black-and-white burl veneer reappears at the headboard, connecting back to the walk-in closet, while a daybed at the foot of the bed looks directly out towards the bathing zone. Warm natural wood tones and an olive-green stained minibar cabinet wrap the room in comfort, inviting quiet moments of pause.

While every room possesses a distinct character, the entire home reads as one continuous story. The key lies in a rhythmic repetition of materials and carefully considered furniture. By carrying distinct textures—from polished stainless steel and raw ceramic tiles to emerald stone and red terrazzo—across different floors, DIN Studio built a cohesive interior language that harmonises mid-century cool with resort warmth.

Through a confident mix of materials and expressive details, this home demonstrates what thoughtful architecture can achieve. With a clear understanding of space and purpose, DIN Studio has crafted a refined residence where mid-century elegance and resort ease live naturally side by side.
