SuMisura sought to create a sense of progression and a distinct contrast between the architecture and interiors. Indeed, the property’s minimalist facade conceals a contrastingly majestic interior. In the living area, the firm installed a bespoke three-dimensional wall panelling and added mood lighting that endows the area with warmth. “During the design phase, our team wanted to create a statement that was immediately visible. We decided to incorporate a beautifully crafted mahogany wood feature wall that stretches from the living hall to the dry kitchen,” she explains of this dramatic design detail that ties the abode together. As a finishing touch, exceptional fabrics are accompanied by distinctive objets d’art crafted from polished metal, ceramic and glass.

Maximum impact

The roof offers a panoramic view of the Coronation Road and Sixth Avenue neighbourhood—and the client had some ideas on how to maximise his enjoyment of it. “The client wanted the entire lap pool to be removed and converted into a wider open terrace for his potted plants. He also wanted to have a barbecue area and an outdoor living area,” says Lim.

Place to gather

Meanwhile, below ground, the client’s prized dinnerware collection takes pride of place in the house’s once-neglected basement, which enjoys a new lease of life as the family’s eight-seater dining room. Light was applied sparingly to highlight the design objects; the illumination is then bounced off perpendicular mirrors to invigorate the room with a capacious feel.

Feminine grace

The rooms of the owner’s daughters are characterised by gentle colours and a cosy feel. “The family room was merged with a bedroom so that their daughter can enjoy a larger space for her lounger, wardrobe and dressing table,” says Lim.

Bespoke details

The master bedroom, which occupies a whole floor, was an ambitious undertaking. “We consulted with the client to see if they would allow us to convert two rooms into an extended walk-in wardrobe. Our client gave us the green light so we demolished and created new walls to connect both bedrooms,” she says, expounding on the scale of work that went into the master bedroom. As expected, the bedroom perpetuates the home’s use of elegant, luxurious materials. A three-dimensional mural was also tailor-made as the bed’s backdrop in the master bedroom—a floral piece that provides an ethereal feel to the bedroom. This detail is, as Lim puts it, “something the family absolutely adores.”
