Discover the beauty and diversity of Singapore through these 20 porcelain plates, designed by locally-based brands and firms including Tatler Homes Singapore

If you were to reflect on the elements that make Singapore uniquely its own, what are some of the symbols that instantly come to mind?

For the Tatler Homes Singapore team, the distinctive frontage of shophouses were among the most memorable motifs; not least because of the new office location of Tatler Singapore along Bukit Pasoh Road in the Outram Park neighbourhood.

In collaboration with homegrown design store Supermama, the Tatler Homes Singapore team designed a plate that pays homage to these historic buildings, as part of the Singapore Blue collection; this particular plate is now available the Supermama website and Tatler Homes Curates.

The plate is one of 20 designs launching as part of Singapore Blue collection, which features the works of 20 local artists and brands including Tatler Homes Singapore. Five different designs are launched each week, starting from November 20, featuring visual elements inspired by Singapore's history and cultural heritage while referencing the unique talents of each collaborator.

Take, for instance, the plate designed by the National Museum of Singapore, which features the distinctive dome of the museum itself. Or the plate designed by local chef Willin Low that was inspired by traditional Asian motifs that represent resilience; these wave and cloud motifs also represent Singapore as a small island that rises above an ocean of challenges since its founding while remaining resilient throughout.

Others such as The Draco Playground take inspiration from heartfelt memories; zookeeper Qiu Quan and chef Lennard Yeong, who are siblings, worked together to create a plate design that relives their childhood memories.

Participating talents include actress Jeanette Aw, deejay Rosalyn Lee, Kki Sweets co-founder Kenneth Seah, artists Lim Tze Peng, Samantha Lo, Hafiiz Karim and many more; the goal was to include the works of Singapore talents from all walks of life. Each plate in made by Japanese ceramics manufacturer Kihara in Arita, Japan, and comes accompanied with a plate stand and commermorative box.

“Singapore Blue represents the next chapter of our journey in creating a label that celebrates Singapore’s spirit and culture,” says Edwin Low, Founder of Supermama. “There is, therefore, no better way to discover the beauty and diversity of this country through the eyes of collaborators from varied backgrounds. My hope is that this label will continually advocate Singapore design through the porcelain craft, and perhaps stand the test of time.”

Whether used as tableware or as decorative items, these plates make beautiful gifts for loved ones here and abroad. See the rest of the collection in pictures below:
