Louis Vuitton’s travel-inspired Objets Nomades collection is a truly global affair
While international travel remains limited throughout 2022, Louis Vuitton’s travel-inspired Objets Nomades collection is still going strong—with brand new, limited-edition furniture pieces continuing to inspire a sense of adventure, wherever you may be.
As befits a collection dedicated to the joy and imagination of travel, Louis Vuitton has collaborated with a handpicked roster of designers from around the globe since the launch of Objets Nomades in 2012.
Frank Chou is a new name to the Objets Nomades ranks, with his striking Signature Armchair and Sofa debuting this edition. Chou is no stranger to making waves internationally, having been named the first Chinese designer to win a SaloneSatellite award during Milan Design Week in 2016.
Chou believes that designers “have a duty to lead, teach and fight for what is right—a better future”. This ethos underpins his experimental designs, which combine tradition with modernity and fuse Chinese and global influences, as seen with Signature, which was inspired by Yunnan’s terraced fields and the rock formations in Arizona’s Antelope Valley.

London-based designers Raw Edges—who have received numerous awards worldwide for design innovation, including the Design Miami/Basel Designer of the Future—return to Objets Nomades with their Cosmic Table; its intriguing carbon fibre base has an organic, folding shape originally created using just three pieces of paper.
The piece represents their continued study into “creating complex shapes only by [using] flat surfaces”—a perfect fit for what the pair describe as Louis Vuitton’s foundation in “creative ideas and revolutionary solutions”.

Vuitton’s iconic monogram flower receives a fresh burst of life courtesy of Marcel Wanders Studio, another frequent Objet Nomades collaborator. Located in Amsterdam, the creative studio has long been celebrated for their whimsical, playful inventions, as showcased by this year’s Petal Chair, whose unique seat evokes a blooming flower.
The designer, whose works have been exhibited in far-flung locations such as London’s V&A Museum and New York’s Museum of Modern Art, remarks that “travel constantly changes, inspires and surprises—these pieces of furniture champion the balance between losing ourselves and finding ourselves on a constant journey of discovery”.

Sao Paolo-based Fernando and Humberto Campana bring a Brazilian flavour to Objets Nomades with their colourful, vibrant pieces. Named Designers of the Year at Paris’s Maison & Objet interior design fair in 2012, they champion the use of unexpected materials in their work; this year, that includes their rainbow-hued Aguacate artwork crafted from leather straps and their Merengue pouffes, designed to evoke meringue swirls.
As Humberto Campana explains, “For this edition, we wanted to bring down the scale of our pieces to allow more versatility and movement, staying true to the spirit of travel.”
For those looking to similarly reawaken their wanderlust, Objets Nomades will be exhibited at K11 Musea from July 14 to July 23.
