We have selected some of the most stylish summer furniture from the shops to bring summer into your home

As we change our wardrobes, our homes also need a makeover too to greet the lovely summer. Asia Tatler has chosen some great furniture pieces to make your home look refreshing and bright for the hot summer days.
Materials and structures
During the summer, it is always pleasing to sit on a chair or sofa that can keep you cool, comfortable and relaxed. This is exactly why it is essential to find furniture pieces that have cooling effects.
The Ravel sofa designed by Patricia Urquiola from B&B Italia Outdoor uses woven polyethylene backs that blends with a metal base to produce a modular element in different sizes. Not only can the woven back of the seat can adjust itself to your seating posture, it can also keep you cool at the same time.

In the summer, wooden furniture is preferred. Even though there are a lot of different types of wooden furniture and they vary in properties, what they all have in common is that they all provide a sense of natural beauty through their colours and textures and make us think of the great outdoors, especially in the summer.

Another great piece of furniture to have at home for the summer are pieces that are made from water hyacinth – an aquatic plant from tropical regions. This aquatic plant grows so fast that it hinders navigation and harms the marine life in Thailand. Yet, it is a wonderful material for structural woven furniture for its great cooling effects. Getting a piece of furniture made from water hyacinth is eco-friendly and can also help revitalise the local economy in Thailand.

Colours and Patterns
To lighten up your homes, choose something with bright and warm colours for the summer. It can definitely keep your spirits high and match perfectly with the blooming gardens and wonderful blue sky outdoors.
A good example would be the Ami collection (right) designed by Francesco Rota from Paola Lenti. The collection includes sofas and armchairs that come in a selection of colours with matching cushions and pillows to make your living colourful and cheerful. You can also choose Acrilla’s new chair collection (left) which features different shapes and colours. Its decorative acrylic furnishings can fill your home with vibrant colours and bold patterns to give a glossy look and feeling, while being completely original.

If you are the more subtle type and is reluctant to change your sofas, you can still make your homes colourful and bright by picking some big cushions with bolder colours that have a designer feel to them – put those plain whites and blacks away.
To spice things up a little more for the hot summer, you can find some colourful patterned furniture. These colourful and edgy cabinets from French design house Ru Edition (right) and Swiss furniture brand A2 and A2 (left) will make your living room look hip and bright.

Outdoor Furniture
In the summer, we spend a lot more time outdoors to enjoy the lovely sunshine and breeze. Thus, a lovely bed or sofa on the deck or patio will make a great piece for our summer furniture collection.
The Cove collection from Paola Lenti is an exquisite outdoor collection of sofas, armchairs, sun bed and platforms. With a structure made of aluminium, it can be upholstered both with Rope M fabric and Aquatech fabric. Their arm and backrests are removable and can be applied to different platforms to tailor for different outdoor environments – giving you the perfect outdoor haven this summer.
