Make your bathroom a chic and tranquil space where you’ll love to linger in

As both a private and functional space, the bathroom serves as a personal sanctuary. “In today’s interiors, bathrooms are regarded as luxurious retreats and spaces for relaxation,” says Nikki Hunt, principal of Design Intervention. She observes that more homeowners are allocating larger floor areas to the bathroom. In the firm’s recent projects, underutilised spaces such as the guest bedroom or study have become transformed into a new bathroom for the home.
Invest in the design of your bathroom to make it a cohesive part of your interior; furnish it with as much attention as the rest of your home. “Feature lighting, architectural mouldings, as well as loose furniture, audio equipment, wallpaper and artworks are elements that we add to make bathrooms statement-making spaces,” says Hunt.

Nature-derived elements are another way to add to the calming environment in your bathroom. “The most beautiful bathrooms let you bathe and shower close to nature, such as in beach resorts,” says Robert Cheng, founder of Brewin Design Office. To emulate the effect of a resort-style bathroom, he recommends maximising the amount of natural light and to have picture windows (if the space permits) that look out to scenic surroundings, which you can admire while soaking in the bathtub.
Even a petite bathroom can have plenty of design potential. “Install a full-length mirror on one wall that reflects the other three walls, or have two full-height mirrors on opposing walls,” suggests Cheng. “This adds visual interest and creates a playful detail in the design.” Here are some key pieces to get you started on crafting your dream bathroom.

Inject cubic accents

Furnish your bathroom with faucets that look as sleek as your minimalist design scheme. The Eurocube E single-lever mixer from Grohe has a design inspired by the angular edges of a cube. It’s also equipped with infrared motion-sensor technology, which allows for hands-free activation and a streamlined look in your bathroom.

Do a rain dance

Imagine yourself singing in the rain or coming close to that while enjoying an invigorating shower. Available as a hand-held showerhead or a wall-mounted shower, the Hansgrohe Raindance features the brand’s powder rain micro spray technology, which produces a much finer spray that reduces splashing and feels pleasing on the skin.

Instil perfect order

A beautiful space is also a tidy one, so keep bathroom essentials neatly organised with oak accessories from Maissone that balance form and function. The Segment tray collection features a smooth yet structured design and the cylindrical Gaussian vessels have stackable tiers that maximise storage space.
