If you’re looking to do the same, try these fun grow-it-yourself projects. All you need are these kitchen scraps, a pot, and some soil. And don’t worry about having a green thumb — anything you grow with love is sure to sprout upward and out.

1. Green Onions
Green onions are one of the easiest vegetables to regrow! Simply save the stalks of the onions with its roots, place it in a glass jar with water, and leave it in a place it can get sunlight. Change the water and wash its roots every few days to keep it fresh and viola — you now have a (virtually) infinite supply of green onions. You can do the same for leeks although due to its size, it’s bound to take a little longer.
