The Google Office, Zurich
 

Described as “fun and inspiring” by employees, Google puts a large emphasis in its offices. Its has made its office into a large playground where everyone is comfortable in sharing ideas and opinions. Though its headquarters is the Googleplex in Mountain View, California, its Zurich office is truly a fantastic place to work in.

Designed by various designers, this wacky office is designed beyond our imagination. Apart from a lot of specially decorated rooms that employees can work in, they have an aquarium, a library, a games room and a restaurant providing employees free breakfast, lunch and dinner. There is also a special private cabin where employees can attend to their personal affairs, a stress capsule that is impermeable to sound and light to for employees who want some time out, a massage area with professional masseurs available, and last but not least, a slide in the office which employees all adore and are proud of.

Selgas Cano Architecture Office, Madrid

If you are a big fan of the outdoors, Madrid-based architectural firm Selgas Cano is the perfect office for you. The office located in the middle of the forest is an office made by and for architects. From its exterior, it looks like a long tube that has sunken into the ground with windows on one side; sinking into the ground is an ancient strategy to improve building insulation. Meanwhile, the recessed floors of the office makes the people inside feel as if they are completely immersed in the woods when they look outside.

Lego Group’s Development Department, Billund

Visually stimulating for employees and visitors, the Lego Group’s Development Department in Billund, Denmark serves as a workplace which values cooperation and knowledge sharing – which can be reflected through its design of the office. When visitors step into this office, they will be surprised to see that the reception area and the café (which is also divided into the dining café and lounge) are linked together with one table to create a dynamic and active social space. Inside the modern office there are also 13 unique meeting and project rooms to inspire creativity and meet the needs of users. It also plays with the contrasting of colours and patterns while it remains professional in its approach.

TBWA/Hakuhodo Advertising Agency Office, Tokyo

Built in 2007, this office is a joint venture between TBWA, a global advertising company and Hakuhodo, Japan’s second-largest advertising agency. Designed for creative people, this office is located in a unique eight-storey amusement complex that was previously used as a bowling alley in downtown Tokyo. The high ceilings are double in height with two-metre tall beams running along the length of the space. Its indirect lighting and air-conditioning that is integrated seamlessly into the ceiling and between the beams creates a smooth, clean white atmosphere. With wooden floors, small grassy knolls covered in soft moss across the office, it creates a calm and relaxing environment for employees to work in.

Ogilvy and Mather Advertising Agency Office, Guangzhou, China

Stepping inside the Guangzhou office of the Ogilvy and Mather advertising agency, you will find yourself at a “Carnival of Ideas” with decorative carnival elements throughout the office. With merry-go-rounds, ferris wheels and four big letters which spells out “PLAY” in the middle of the office, the office is vertically connected by a tilted red staircase which links the ground floor and the work stations above. The staircase also sends people on an explorative journey as they discover the myriad of angles and viewpoints along the way through the glass viewing panes, openings and a bridge connecting a balcony to a mezzanine loft. Now, we can understand why advertisers come up with great ideas.
