Showcasing each firm’s knack for pairing lavish details with clever spatial design, these projects take the essence of modern luxury to new heights
The annual Tatler Design Awards aims to place the spotlight on luxury residential projects by local architecture and design firms while celebrating the achievements of these homegrown practices. These stellar projects showcase the ingenuity of these creative talents; our Design Project of the Year and Best Showroom accolades will also honour notable commercial projects and developments in Singapore.
Now into its fourth edition, the annual event by Singapore Tatler Homes will include for the first time, three categories as part of a new Readers’ Choice segment. The winning entries will be partially decided by popular vote; a panel of jury members will also contribute to the selection of winners.
Ahead of the awards ceremony that will be held in February 2020, we unveil the shortlisted entries for the Best Luxury Concept. Showcasing each firm’s knack for pairing lavish details with clever spatial design, these projects take the essence of modern luxury to new heights; nominees in the running for this category are Dwell Interior Design, Edmund Ng Architects, Prestige Global Designs, Spacedge Designs and Topic Studio.
The winners will be announced in the February 2020 issue of Singapore Tatler Homes; online voting will close on November 11. Scroll through the nominated entries here and vote for your favourite project in the form below:
Leedon Residence Penthouse by Dwell Interior Design
“Wow” elements are a hallmark of this home, right from the lift lobby where the eye is immediately drawn to myriad pearlescent discs that reflect light and act as a luminous foil to the dark marble bench below. The clever interplay of light and dark, such as the metallic-look cushions and the marble tables, brings a tactile dimension to the space. Indeed, the use of lighting via ornate chandeliers, and polished materials such as chrome and marble, form a common thread throughout all the spaces in this home.

Coco Palms Penthouse by Prestige Global Designs
The well-travelled family admired the opulent look of the stylish hotels they’ve visited and wanted to include these elements into their abode, which is situated in the Coco Palms condominium complex. The firm sought to create an interior inspired by their sojourns abroad and their taste for the finer things in life. “The overall design concept is modern luxury,” says Tay. “We wanted to create a home that is luxurious but yet liveable for the occupants, and in lighter shades to look inviting and welcoming.”

Cantik by Spacedge Designs
When Spacedge Designs took on the redesign of this 10,200sqft family abode in the Bukit Timah district, it came with the most ambitious of goals—to transform a dated Neoclassical-style bungalow into a grand home for a multigenerational family. Led by designer William Chan, an award-winning designer known for his minimalist and unconventional design approach, the firm looked to create a "new look of modern luxury", combining Chan’s clean-cut aesthetics with the client’s preference for palatial design.

Orchard Residences Show Apartment by Topic Studio
For this three-bedroom unit in The Orchard Residences, Topic Design Studio was tasked to deliver an apartment that was timeless, elegant and luxurious. "Timeless elegance and comfort were what the client had emphasised," says Tan Sze Ling, principal designer of Topic Design Studio, who worked on the project together with interior designer Darrion Loo. "We decided to introduce unique bespoke pieces and Italian designer furniture to match the apartment’s prestigious location, building on the theme of ‘elegant luxury’ and tailoring the spaces to appeal to families."
