Inspired by the impact curtains and blinds can have on living spaces despite often being overlooked in the design process, Jason Teo and Faith Goh combined their skills to found Coesa, taking soft furnishings to new heights

When Jason Teo and Faith Goh realised that curtains and blinds were often overlooked in interior design, the couple decided to combine their skills and do something about it, marking the beginnings of Coesa, originally under the name End Curtain.

Teo’s background in interior design set him up for success as the creative director of the soft furnishings firm, keenly aware of the essential role blinds and curtains play in shaping an ambience. On the other hand, Goh’s marketing experience and years spent living in design-savvy Australia shaped her into a well-rounded marketing director for the brand.

The founders tell us that their distinct backgrounds guided their journey, inspiring them to build “a brand dedicated to celebrating the artistry of soft furnishings and their influence on everyday living”.

Having recently unveiled their new and improved showroom in Singapore, the couple has been taking Coesa to new heights. We chatted with the founders to find out more about the brand, its recent transition from End Curtain to Coesa, and some of the standout interior design projects incorporating their beautiful soft furnishings.

How did your journey with Coesa start? What inspired you?
Our journey started with a passion for the way design shapes how we live and feel. With design expertise in understanding how materials, colours, and textures could transform a space, we felt there was more to soft furnishings than just utility. We wanted to build a brand that reflects a thoughtful approach to living—one that enriches the everyday. Coesa grew from this vision: to bring a fresh perspective to soft furnishings and inspire people to reimagine the spaces where life unfolds.

Tell us more about Coesa and the work you do.
Coesa focuses on tailored soft furnishings that are thoughtfully designed to elevate everyday spaces. Our aim is to craft pieces that not only enhance aesthetics but also reflect the personality and lifestyle of those who live there. Collaboration and personalisation play a key role in our process, as we partner with clients, ideating and designing to bring their unique visions to life. Through thoughtful design choices, our work seeks to bring a sense of cohesion and distinctive character to each space.

Tell us about the rest of your team.
Our team is a collective of passionate designers and artisans, who share a commitment to craftsmanship, design and creativity. How do you define your brand philosophy?
At Coesa, our philosophy revolves around the idea of cohesion—creating spaces where every element feels interconnected and unified. We believe that thoughtful design enhances everyday life by bringing a sense of balance and purpose to each space. This means prioritising quality materials, innovative solutions, and a personalised, boutique experience that invites our clients into the creative process. Grounded in our values, we approach each project ensuring our designs go beyond aesthetics and add lasting value and meaning to the spaces we bring to life.

What made you decide to focus on curtains and blinds?
Curtains and blinds are often seen as just functional, but we view them as central to the mood and character of a space. They have an understated ability to define how a room feels—by shaping light, adding warmth, and introducing texture. We wanted to highlight this aspect; they are integral design elements that influence both the visual impact and the atmosphere of a space. With this focus, we bring a fresh perspective to how spaces are experienced, creating pieces that elevate the ambience of a room, and shape how you feel within it.

What’s your personal definition of luxury?
Luxury, to us, is about having the freedom to express one’s personality through thoughtful design. It’s found in the intentional choices that bring quality to everyday moments and celebrate the art of living well. True luxury lies in the details that make a difference, and in the elements that resonate with your values and enrich your everyday life.

How do you go about designing new pieces and collections?
Our design process is highly collaborative and rooted in exploration. We draw inspiration from our travels and surroundings—nature, art and architecture—while staying attuned to evolving trends, and exploring new technologies and techniques. Each collection begins with a distinct design intent that aligns with our core values. From there, we incorporate the interplay of materials, colours and textures to create inspiring collections that elevate the essence of modern living.

Can you share a bit about your recent rebrand from End Curtain to Coesa?
Our transition from End Curtain to Coesa was a natural evolution, reflecting our growth and the core of what we’ve always stood for. Drawing inspiration from the Portuguese concept of ‘cohesion’, Coesa weaves together stories, objects, and environments, to create unified spaces for connective memories.

Alongside the rebrand, we recently unveiled our newly designed showroom, which embodies our refreshed identity and showcases a personalised boutique experience, magnified by thoughtful details and tactile experiences.

Please highlight some of your favourite products in your lineup and the different options you have available for customers.
We love pieces that push the boundaries of traditional design and redefine conventional concepts. Our top-down bottom-up blinds feature an innovative system that allows the blinds to be adjusted from the top down. This provides flexible light control while maintaining privacy at eye level, offering both versatility and a refined aesthetic for today’s living spaces.

Another favourite is our aluminium blinds. We reimagined this nostalgic style with L-profile aluminium slats, bringing a fresh, modern edge to classic charm. This new profile design provides a sleek finish and minimises gaps between slats for improved light control and coverage.

We take pride in our sustainable collections, featuring carefully curated fabrics made from cotton, linen and recycled fibres that reflect our dedication to eco-conscious living. Whether for curtains, cushions or upholstery, our sustainable textiles bring aesthetic charm with a mindful approach to living well.

In our production process, we incorporate an advanced thermal shaping machine that elevates the aesthetic of traditional curtains. This technology enables us to create neat, defined folds, ensuring the curtains maintain a polished look that adds a touch of modern refinement to any space.

Can you tell us about a few standout interior design projects that incorporate your products?
One project we worked on was with Knock Knock Studio, led by Jade Cham. The clients wanted to create a flexible division of space without the permanence of walls, while also promoting airflow throughout their home. To achieve this, we introduced our ripple fold curtains paired with a custom suspended track system. The result was a sleek, contemporary look that maintained the openness of the space while enhancing its versatility.

In another project, we focused on a luxury living space where the client sought something truly distinctive, moving beyond conventional designs. To bring this vision to life, we sourced a sheer, abstract designer fabric from Belgium, adding a layer of artistry and sophistication to the interior. This bespoke choice not only elevated the aesthetic but also created an inviting atmosphere, enriching the space with visual interest while framing views of the city skyline.

We also designed pieces for a Japandi-style apartment on a lower floor, where maintaining privacy was essential without compromising light and airflow. We incorporated our top-down bottom-up blinds, allowing the top-hung windows to remain open for ventilation while ensuring privacy at eye level. The warm, neutral tones of the dim-out honeycomb fabric gently filter daylight, accentuating the organic textures of wabi-sabi design throughout the space.

At Coesa, we stand out through our commitment to creating tailored soft furnishings that are anything but ordinary. We believe that every piece should resonate with the personal stories and lifestyle choices of our clients, ensuring that each item feels like a true extension of their home. We take pride in our discerning eye for materials, colours, and textures, which allows us to curate unique combinations that are not typically available in mainstream offerings.

We prioritise meaningful collaboration with clients, understanding their aspirations and translating them into designs that enrich their environments. This personalised experience, combined with our passion for craftsmanship, sets us apart and allows us to bring a fresh perspective to soft furnishings.

What have been some of your greatest lessons and takeaways since founding your brand?
One of the greatest lessons we’ve learned is the importance of authenticity. Staying true to our vision and values has guided our decisions and shaped our identity. The design landscape is ever-evolving, and embracing change has reinforced our ability to reimagine ourselves while remaining aligned with our core beliefs.

Another takeaway is the value of collaboration; meaningful partnerships and open dialogue with our partners and clients have been essential in shaping who we are today, and we strive to carry that forward in everything we do.
