With Fable, American wallcoverings brand Phillip Jeffries turns walls into composed landscapes, layered with rich pattern and texture
Walls tend to recede into the background, doing their job without drawing much attention. With the arrival of American wallcoverings brand Phillip Jeffries in Singapore, that expectation begins to shift. Known for its material-led approach, the brand brings with it a considered view of the wall as surface rather than backdrop.
Fable reflects this shift. Conceived as a digitally printed mural, the design draws from chinoiserie, with cranes moving through dense botanical forms that unfold across the wall as a continuous scene. It reads as an environment rather than repeated motifs, giving walls a key role in shaping how a room is experienced.

Layered pattern
Fable is structured with a clear sense of rhythm. The cranes appear at intervals, guiding the eye across a landscape of foliage that feels detailed but controlled. The composition holds its balance, allowing the pattern to remain legible even at scale. While the chinoiserie reference is evident, it is handled with restraint, giving the design a more contemporary presence without losing its decorative roots. The scene builds gradually, revealing more details the longer one looks.

Material finish
The mural takes on different qualities depending on the material. Available on grasscloth, wood, paperweave and vinyl, each surface shifts how the design is read. Textured bases soften the imagery, allowing tones to blend and diffuse, while smoother finishes bring sharper contrast and clarity. This interplay between image and surface gives the design a quiet depth, one that responds to light and movement within the space. It also allows the same composition to sit comfortably across different interior conditions.

Flexible options
Fable is offered in eight colourways, ranging from neutral palettes to more saturated tones that carry greater visual weight. This allows it to move between roles, either as a subtle backdrop or a more defining element within a room.
Through the Phillip Jeffries’ PJ Mash Up programme, both colour and material can be adjusted further, offering flexibility for more specific design directions. Produced to order, each mural is approached with a level of consideration that aligns with more tailored interiors, rather than standardised application.
