Restaurateur Ana de Ocampo tells us all about what makes her feel the most at home and her favourite pieces
An avid antique enthusiast, president and CEO of Wildflour Group Ana de Ocampo loves to find unique items to populate her home. Among her favourites is an old Philippine-style altar table adorned with mother-of-pearl which was passed down from her mother. Having a schedule that’s busier than most, she likes to spend her rare moments of respite baking—often idling the hours away in her kitchen where she’s most relaxed. When the time comes to entertain guests, she swears by the comfort of the furniture decorating her living room.
De Ocampo’s ritualistic lifestyle is well complemented by her home which strikes a balance between comfort and aesthetics. In a conversation with Tatler, she tells us of the things that matter most as well as what makes her the happiest.

What was the inspiration behind the design of your home?
I’m inspired by my travels, as every time I visit a different country, I try to bring back an inspiring piece or souvenir that would remind me of the trip and evoke the culture I was able to experience. So if you go through my home, it’s filled with memorabilia from my trips and is a mix of those traditions and styles as well.
What is the first thing guests notice when they enter your home?
The first thing guests notice is a beautiful portrait painted by Mark Padernal during the pandemic. It’s a reminder of poise and perseverance amidst a difficult time—plus Mark’s talent really shows in the piece.

What’s a typical day like at home?
I tend to wake up and start my day early, say a prayer, proceed to work out, check on, say good morning to my kids and then head to work. After a busy day filled with meetings and other engagements, I come home, have a nice quiet dinner with my family, sleep early, rinse and repeat.
What are your favourite spots in your home and why?
The kitchen is my favourite spot because it has always felt like home to me. Being able to be in that environment and bake the rare times I have downtime makes me remember simpler days when hours spent in the kitchen were my favourite pastime.
Which is your favourite spot for entertaining guests?
The living room is my favourite spot to entertain as the couch is perfect for lounging and gathering around for hours of intimate conversation.

Are there any parts of your home you’d like to change? If so, how would you change them?
I wish I could build a library or study. I have a ton of cookbooks that I don’t have the space to properly display and read intently. This would also give me the proper space for quiet time to relax, reflect or work. I would also prefer to have a bigger garden as our outdoor area is primarily the swimming pool which is barely used.
How do you balance style and comfort in your home?
I prioritise comfort when choosing furniture. If something looks stylish but isn’t comfy to use, then there isn’t really any point in having it take up space at your home. I like my brother’s furniture store, Roche Bobois, which has a lot of inspired designer furniture. Function should marry with form and I make it a point to have pieces that blend aesthetically while still being functional.
