The fourth outpost of the contemporary art gallery founded by the Hong Kong serial entrepreneur and collector officially opens on January 12

Hong Kong-started WOAW Gallery will open its fourth outpost and first Southeast Asian space in Singapore on January 12.

Established in 2019 by Kevin Poon, a serial entrepreneur and prominent creative figure in Hong Kong, the latest WOAW Gallery is housed within a historic shophouse at the cultural enclave of Ann Siang Hill. The gallery also has two outposts in Hong Kong and a third one in Beijing.

For the opening, the gallery will host its inaugural exhibition titled As Friends & Partners. Curated by Poon, it will feature emerging artists from around the world. Beyond this, the gallery hopes to showcase the works of established and emerging Southeast Asian artists.

“I have always long been fascinated by the [Southeast Asian] region’s art scene and how it relates to and contrasts with that of Hong Kong and Greater China,” said Poon in a statement. “Our mission is to contribute to the local cultural landscape through our exhibition programmes and provide local visitors the opportunity to engage with different aspects of our artists’ practices in a way they couldn’t previously.”

“We hope to be able to engage with young and seasoned collectors within the region, and bridge them with the very latest cultural trends we are witnessing in America, Europe, Hong Kong, and Greater China.”
