An act of conscious coupling, the sustainability-focused event has teamed up with the annual light festival for its eighth edition to entertain and inspire attendees to live responsibly

On track to being waste-free, plant-based and carbon-negative, The Conscious Festival returns to Singapore for its eighth edition. The event will take place over two weekends—May 31 to June 2 and June 7 to 9—at Marina Bay Singapore.

This year, the festival partners with another sustainable festival—i Light Singapore—to present The Conscious Concert. First held in 2010, i Light Singapore is an outdoor light art event that decks parts of the city with spectacular energy-saving light installations made using eco-friendly materials.

A key highlight of the first-ever Conscious Concert is a performance by sound and light artist, Joey Dean, who is professionally known as Natural Symphony. Dean leverages technology to capture the live frequencies and bio-rhythms of plants to transform them into soundscapes.

The partnership will also see the launch of i Quest, a restoration effort that rallies festival attendees to help safeguard mangrove forests and seaweed meadows around the region. Attendees can scan the numerous QR codes found throughout the festival grounds to contribute points to the community scoreboard. Upon accumulating 1,000 points, i Quest will pledge to plant 160 mangrove and seaweed seedlings with a restoration programme located on Dompak Island, Bintan.

Sean Lee-Davies, owner and CEO of Green Is The New Black, the media and events company behind The Conscious Festival, shares, “We have the technology and know-how to live more sustainably and harmoniously on this planet, but we need to ignite our collective will to do so. We use awe, music, art and wonder to bring our communities together so that we can co-create a better future for all.”
