The swimming sensation kicked off what looks to be a busy time ahead with a bang
Olympic swimming sensation and 2018 Gen.T honouree Siobhán Haughey competed at the Hong Kong Open Championships in Victoria Park over the weekend, and set a 400m freestyle city record on Sunday.
It was the first time the 24-year-old two-time Olympic silver medallist swam competitively since a poolside injury in Dubai last year.
According to the South China Morning Post, Haughey “didn’t expect much from the Hong Kong Championships, I’ve been away from competition for a long time, but the record I broke in the 400m free means my previous training worked”.
Haughey has a busy schedule ahead, with competitions in Berlin, Germany; Toronto, Canada; Indianapolis, US; and Melbourne, Australia.
She says she’s been working with physiotherapists every day since her injury, and that “it is no longer a problem.”
