Co-founded by Nadia Ismadi, the Malaysian fintech company accepted the award for the inaugural Royal Award for Islamic Finance Impact Challenge Prize 2022.

Malaysia-based fintech Pod, co-founded by Nadia Ismadi, was recently awarded the inaugural Royal Award for Islamic Finance (RAIF) Impact Challenge Prize 2022 during the Global Islamic Finance Forum. The event was hosted by Bank Negara Malaysia, the Securities Commission Malaysia and the Association of Islamic Banking and Financial Institutions Malaysia.

According to the World Bank, the RAIF Impact Challenge Prize 2022 aims to bring greater recognition to innovative Islamic finance solutions, improving the economic and social resilience of financially impacted communities globally in line with the United Nation's Sustainable Development Goals. The accelerator-type Challenge expects to provide an opportunity for the winning solution to scale up its deployment beyond the originating country.

Nadia shared in a LinkedIn post how the World Bank predicts that approximately 70 percent of Southeast Asia's workforce will be within the informal or gig segment by the year 2025. “If you don't start thinking and preparing your organisations to serve the underserved, you will lose out on a significant portion of future customers,” she said.

On winning the award, Nadia hoped its recognition would shed more light on the impact we can create together to alleviate the lives of underserved communities.
