The 24-year-old was forced to miss out on two competitions earlier this year due to an injury

Olympic swimming sensation and 2018 Gen.T honouree Siobhán Haughey will compete at the Hong Kong Open Championships in Victoria Park this weekend. It is the 24-year-old’s first time back in a race in eight months.

Earlier this year, she was forced to bow out of the Mare Nostrum Tour in May and the World Championships in Budapest in June due to an injury.

Haughey last competed at the short-course World Championships in Abu Dhabi in December 2021. At the event, not only did she win gold in the 100m and 200m freestyle heats, she also set a short-course world record in the latter with a time of 1min 50.31sec.

This weekend’s event in Hong Kong is one of the biggest domestic races for the city’s swimmers. Haughey currently holds the record in all three of the events she will be taking part in, and she will be competing against her own team members.
