The 2016 Formula One world champion is starting a new life as an entrepreneur. Here’s how what he learned on the track applies to success in startups

After years of fierce competition with bitter rival Lewis Hamilton, German driver Nico Rosberg finally won the Formula One world championship in 2016, having come agonisingly close the two seasons prior.

Five days later, he shocked the world of motor racing by announcing his retirement from the sport at the peak of his career, at the age of 31. Now, Rosberg is embarking on a second chapter of his life, focusing on life as a young father and a budding entrepreneur.

We asked Rosberg how years of competing at sport’s highest level inform his new endeavours, and how entrepreneurs can develop the winning mentality he demonstrated as world champion. Given his years of relentless, very public, battling with Mercedes teammate Hamilton, it’s no wonder he puts “dedication” right at the top of the list.
