Giden Lim discusses how his company BloomThis is enhancing customer experience and streamlining processes in the highly traditional sector
When Giden Lim and his wife Penny Choo founded BloomThis in 2015, they were met with scepticism from industry veterans who questioned the motivations of two young entrepreneurs entering such a traditional space. But that was exactly the point—Lim and Choo wanted to shake things up. Using technology, they want to streamline industry processes, improve customer communication and elevate the online buying experience.
In addition to establishing its digital presence, BloomThis has also opened three brick-and-mortar stores in Malaysia’s Klang Valley.
Here, Lim discusses his approach to business and how he deals with failure.

The florist and gifting industry is an emotional business. People often express their sentiments through thoughtful gestures. Gifting is a universal language of appreciation and affection. Sometimes, words aren’t enough; a carefully chosen gift can bridge that gap and create a lasting bond. Gifting is a timeless human tradition that transcends cultural boundaries and generations.
Consistency is vital. Simply offering great products and services isn’t enough.
While BloomThis has its roots as an e-commerce company, we have expanded our presence by launching three retail spaces at Damansara Specialist Hospital 2, Subang Jaya Medical Centre and an outlet adjacent to our warehouse in Petaling Jaya. A physical space lets us provide customers with a tangible, immersive experience that complements our online offerings. We also want to foster community by engaging with people through workshops, events and interactive activities hosted at our outlets.
