Lee Yin Yen, the executive director of Lo Hong Ka, shares five pointers on cultivating healthy habits.

Time is a luxury for go-getters, especially in an era where #hustling is the goal. In the midst of pursuing success, carving time to care for our bodies can sometime take a backseat.

Yet, our Generation T Lister Lee Yin Yen juggles her duties as executive director of Lo Hong Ka and founder of Point Free with taking care of herself.

Despite her hectic schedule, she is committed to eating well, working out and supplementing her body with herbs and nutrition every day. To this driven young lady, healthy living is achievable regardless of your age; “It is never too early or too late to take care of your body,” she says.

For our second unveil of the 2017 Generation T List, Yin Yen shares five health and wellness habits that she swears by.

Hydration is key

“Drink more water. A lot of times when we feel hungry, it’s actually our body crying out for some hydration.”

Make a consciously healthy choice

“The goal is to eat fresh and whole foods. It sounds impossible but it is not. Simply just pick the healthiest item on the menu. Remember, there’s always a choice and it’s yours.”

Give your body help to adapt

“A lot of people experience hormonal imbalance due to our hectic lifestyle and the food we eat. I usually add adaptogens to my juice or smoothie to give my body that extra boost. Adaptogens are basically herbs and superfoods for the trillions of cells in your body to help strengthen the body’s response to stress. These adaptogens also enhance the body’s ability to cope with anxiety and fight fatigue gently without causing any major side effects.”

Get moving—no excuses!

“Even if I don’t have time, I still squeeze in five to ten minutes of movement. Just get your body moving. Stretch. Take five to eight breaths in each position. If you have time, do some skipping. I love a good skipping session. It gets your whole body moving.”

Your body knows best

“I realised a lot of people don’t exercise because they are worried they can’t keep up with the rest. Don’t worry! It’s not a competition. Take your time and listen to your body. Working out and eating healthy is a journey to be enjoyed. If you need to rest, rest. If you feel like you can do better, then push further. Feed your body responsibly and with love.”
