To Dianalyn Lorenzo, my first mum,
They say you don’t choose the family you’re born into, but if I could, I would choose you every time.
Thank you for raising us the way you did, for having the courage to talk to us during hard times and for giving us the strength to help us get through them.
You had the heart to say no to our whimsical requests and the wisdom to say yes to the experiences that would shape us. Your love for us is something that I strive to give back to my own family and you now. Please allow me to spoil you a little these next few years, for you have sacrificed luxuries to give us the beautiful life that we have.
To Linda Ley, my second mum,
I still remember the day you told me I could call you “mum”. Although I say it awkwardly most of the time, being under the same roof as you and undeservingly receiving the same love and care you give to my wife and brothers-in-law has warmed me up to say it more and more.
Seeing how you are behind closed doors, I can’t help but admire the mother you are, not only to your family but to everyone under your roof. I am forever grateful for the acceptance you have shown me and the love you continue to share.

To Adrienne Ley, my wife and the newest mum in my life,
I could not have asked for a better mother for our Lewis Victor. You are the yin to my yang, and as a husband and dad, I’m thankful for the balance you bring during the rare times we have a petty argument about raising our son. I am thankful that in almost all things in life, we find ourselves on the same page. I am even more grateful to be writing the next chapters with you finally.
We’ve always talked about making our firsts special. Although I don’t have something grand planned this year, I can think of nothing more special than spending our first Mother’s Day together as a family, happy in each other’s company. In the future, I look forward to helping our son plan out his Mother’s Day surprises for years to come.
